Do I need to install DCS 1.2.4.11855.154 to fly multiplayer?

I was wondering if I need to install DCS 1.2.4.11855.154 to fly multiplayer? I presently am up to V1.2.4 installed and have been able to fly other servers. I can login but I cannot bring up any servers to fly on. Or is there some other server issue?

You can only connect to servers which run the same version as you. Since most servers will have updated to the latest version by now (1.2.4.12179.180) that's the one you need to be able to play.

 

Showing version numbers on the master server would help a bit to avoid questions like these.

Interesting what you say. Firstly I always wait awhile before updating and as an example I ran v1.2.3 for some time after v1.2.4 came out and I was able to see in the server list all the same servers as when I finally updated to v1.2.4.

Today I see one server in the list.

 

edited: post update (1.2.4.12179.180) all servers now showing

Because the autoupdater does his job on a daily basis (1 check for new content every 24 hours), most people will be updated to the latest version within 24 hours if they run DCS World on a daily basis.

For me the issue is it takes about 1 hour of re-moding after each update and if the update isn't anything special I prefer to defer it. I wish ModMan was working in FC3.

Use JSGME, it does basically the same thing as modman. I mod a new install in less than five minutes.

Can JSGME be used for other sims?

If so do you need to re-install it again?

Actually I just realized all that's needed is to make a new shortcut with a new 'start in' location and a new _mods folder in the new game root directory.
