hello guys!i would really like to convert my ch-rudder pedals into a hall effect sensor device...now enjoing the pure precision on my hotas warthog, the low resolution, and other disadvantages of pots is even more apparent on my pedals now....

well, if there were pedals on the market available with hall effect senors, i would buy them immediately and not even bother to try to mod my pedals...but unfortunately there arent any available it seems.

so the only solution left is to start doing it myself...

the problem....i cant due to the lack of know how.

i read something about leo bodnar and hall effect sensors....but i wouldnt even know where to begin with...

so my question,...has anybody here already done something similiar?can anybody give me more insight on how to achieve it?thx in advance!

Remember that you can not just slap hall sensors on something and expect perfect operation, its actually rather hard to achieve a linear response.

If you just want more resolution on the Rudder you could purchase a leo bodnar 12bit USB Controller and a high quality potentiometer.

This would give you 4096 steps while still being linear.

The Warthog uses a very specialized proprietary hall sensor, you won't achieve this level of resolution with DIY gear, not at last because of a lack of 16bit interfaces.

I converted my TM elite pedals to a hall sensor to use with my cougar and it was simple. Using a Teensy 2.0+ (or the Bodnar board) and an allegro 1302 you should be able to get more than acceptable response.

Here is a start. The only difference is the sensor.

As far as the sensor goes, you can use the body and post of the pot to accomodate the magnet and hall sensor. Gene Buckle over at SimHQ is the local evil genius in regards to that stuff.

I'll post a picture of my version, when I get a chance.

Ours is not to reason why, but rather to do and die.
