cichlidfan Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Yay! Except it doesn't do anything useful. However, it will not offer all the functionality previously associated with the feature. Instead it will bring users to the recently-introduced "Metro" interface. pacotito Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It also looks like they are planning an update to windows 8. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22446754 I just use classic shell to boot to desktop. "They also suggested it would give users the option of booting their PCs directly into Windows 8's desktop mode rather than having to visit the tile-based Start menu screen first." That would be nice. I use Classic Shell as well for the same reason. sslechta Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Agreed Pacotito. I've used Classic Shell since I got Win 8 about 7 months ago. Ratfink Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Classic shell here too, but I'd rather Win 8 has it as an option now it looks like my prayers are answered :) CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW Mid Tower | AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D | G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz | ASUS ROG X870E-E GAMING WIFI | Gigabyte RTX5080 Gaming OC 16GB | 4TB Lexar NM790 M.2 PCIe 4.0 | Seasonic Prime TX-1000 1000W 80 Plus Titanium Modular Power Supply | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity AIO 360mm | Meta Quest Pro | TM HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | Win 11 Home | Asus PG348Q 34" 3440x1440 Monitor | Bose Companion 3 2.1 Sound

Ha ha Get both boot to desktop and media center for 14.99 Edited May 30, 2013 by pacotito Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. Gigabyte ssc GTX960 SSC 4gb
Sorin Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Yes, start button will be back, but it will not do what it used to do. Also still no option to get rid of Metro and boot directly to desktop. Microsoft arrogance is already costing them dearly... Trying to force clients to use a touch screen interface while not having a touch screen is just wrong. But forcing the same touch screen interface on servers is just plain idiotic... (Windows Server 2012). I think Windows 8 is the beginning of the end for Microsoft.
