I've been having this issue for a while now, sometimes it's fine but sometimes it takes 8-10 secs for the switch/ pots command to activate in the sim which is obviously quite infuriating/ frustrating. I can't seem to pin anything down to why it may do this. I haven't changed anything, it just seems random. Any ideas? Ta

Sounds like you may have something running in the background on occasion. Check your Processes/Services.

I also run msconfig.exe (Startup tab) fairly regularly to make sure I don't have a bunch of programs starting up when I boot up.

Also, if that proves to be the issue you can look for "Turbo Boost" or something similar to turn off unnecessary background programs before you go into game.

I've been experiencing the same thing.

I have an Aero desktop so thats not it. I also having nothing else running in the background except what most of us have such as TrackIR and my flight controls and a few HID devices but they shouldn't interact with Helios at startup.

I also tend to loose Helios now and then. It just stops working. Not in mission but after going to a new mission. Yes I stop and reset before I go into the next mission. I actually have to open the profiler and open the file I'm using and then everything starts working again.

Frustrating is the correct description.

Sounds like network drop outs on the packets. This could either be the LUA script blowing up out (Check the DCS log files for errors "My Documents\Saved Games\DCS\Logs") or networking problems.

Yes, Warhog, I also have random program stops. I thought it was due to running iControl alongside it which had some known stability issues. But this wasn't the case as even when iControl is not running I still get random regular Helios crashes. Gadroc, I'm not sure what half of that meant but I'll have a look and post the crash log. Thanks

Hi Mr Mojo and Warhog,

Not sure if you guys have fixed the problem yet but I have had similar observations for some time without being able to locate the issue.

Now I think I have found my problem and also a solution that works for me.

I had observed that all my gauges in Helios was working just fine with no delay in response time. I therefore tried to delete all other switches and buttons.

Then I selected the tab for one of the controller boards and found that even though I had deleted all the switching inputs some of the buttons still had bindings to some functions in the game. Found same issue several controller boards.

I then deleted all these random bindings and started to make new correct binding as can be seen on attached screen dump. Viola... The game is reciving the commands from Helios without any delay. I probably have messed up the binding earlier on when alternating inputs so that two controller button was trying to send a command to the same function in the game. As only one of the button would be activated then it only worked from time to time.

As I am not going to flip any of the switches in Helios I do not need to have the switches displayed. But Helios is so great that I can still link a function to the game by dragging the functions straight to the controller board binding under a button.

Hope this may also help your problem.

Cheers

Hans

No the problem still exists. It happens randomly or at least I have not yet been able to establish a pattern to it. It also has nothing to do with a delay in signals. Its just that my pots just stop working for no apparent reason.

The binding things won't do anything for me as all I use Helios for is to get my pots to work in DCS and I use a couple of the engine gauges. All other bindings are done outside of Helios.
