The black DOS box briefly appears and then nothing?

Game worked fine a few days ago. Nothing has been changed AFAIK.

I have 5 DCS crash files but the attachments manager won't upload them.

Instead of a reinstall, try a repair first in a case like this.

Start Menu>All Programs>Eagle Dynamics>DCS World>Repair DCS World

When you reinstalled, did you completely remove the old sim, including deleting the game folder and Saved Games\DCS folder?

Already tried that but I thought the auto-updater was supposed to stop all this crap everytime.

There could be a thousand things gone wrong. How is the auto-updater to fix a problem with your graphics-card-drivers or a windows-update? It's an auto-updater, not an automated system administrator.

Google says "1028_Dell_STU_8100" making problems could be the result of a virus.

That would also explain why your windows is searching for "C:\Windows\expl orer.exe" (unless this is a copy n paste-error)

Well without being catty, I have a dozen other games and this is the only one where I have to practically rebuild my computer because something goes wrong fairly frequently. The only logical inference is that there's a game-specific problem that causes this. I could do without this shit on my week and I'm on the verge of saying '**** it' to the whole damn thing. I don't play games that often but when I do I expect them to work. I've honestly spent more time re-installing DCS World than playing it. Is a stable platform too much to ask for?

Now after re-installing it I have to download and install a 1.6GB update. It's simply retarded.

Dell Studio 8100 is the model of the computer so why Google would tell you that I have no idea. Pretty suspicious virus that only affects DCS World too.

That's exactly what I mean.

I installed the game only once and it still works, so it's probably not DCS that makes the problem.

The reasoning that other games don't suffer from your problem is inconclusive at best. If you're having a memory problem, most shooters or 08/15-games won't suffer from it, as they don't depend as much on it, as DCS does. Same is true for a temperature or CPU-problem.

Just saying "ED, I want your **** software to work, when I want it" apparently didn't help you in the past, so insisiting on it now won't make things easier.

Your file says you have a "Dell Studio XPS 8100". Does it run a dedicated graphics-card or do you have an ATI-Onboard-chip?

ATI 5770. I have several other flight sims that still work as well. In fact I still have A-10C 1.1.1.1 running from an entirely separate folder system and that still works. My guess is that was the only DCS game Steam would sell because it was the only stable product.

Oh this is just ****ing great.

I install it again, do the updates then go to install A-10C and it tell me it can't install it because DCS World has been updated. What a pile of shit.

Can I just have a refund for A-10C and Ka-50 and I'll happily never bother anyone again. This is like having a weekend job, except with no pay.
