Holy crap best gift ever especially for having a workaround for the fc3 aircraft hell ya

I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.

But I find that the HUD has not enough depth. It looks like it is only a few centimeters beyond the glass of the HUD. Can it be increased?

Maybe if you modify in ShaderOverride\VertexShaders\D3AD9F08.txt the line "def c5, 10, 0, 0, 0" and try to replace "10" by a bigger number...But I am not sure that it will work as DCS is very sensitive for Helix dll...

 

Anyone have the fix for Bf-109K ?

Unfortunately, as I do not have the Bf-109K and do not want to have it (I'm on BoS for WWII fighters), I will not make a fix for this plane.

You can try to use the FC3 fix (it should work) or look at the *readme.jsgme of UH-1H fix: it contains some information to fix the sight depth. Maybe it should help you to do it yourself...

You can no more use my previous Helix mod with the 1.5, as it is no more dx9....

Here is a first try of a 3dmigoto mod for the dx11 1.5b version of DCS: it has roughly the same functionalities than the Helix mod.

I will not spend too much time in DCS for months, so if you will have to test it for me, as the dedicated A10C, BS2,... mods..

If this is just changing the render distance, I assume it'll work for us 2D plebians, but my question is: Is there any point in using this for non 3D users?

No, because it doesnt matter for 2D user to have a HUD defined at 5 cm of the glass instead of 100m, because in both case it will be drawn at screen depth with the same size...

So is their going to be future work on this to get the huds to infinity like in 1.2 with the 3d mod fix?

Also anybody noticing that smoke and powerlines turn yellow at certain angles when turning your head?
If it is only in 3Dvision please post a track showing the bug.

Do you mean the 3dvisions mods based on lua files ?

They changed all the scripts, and I was no more able to increase the A10C HUD clipping more than 10 m in front of the plane.

So I moved to 3Dmigoto, this is more long lasting solution than lua scripts, which are too often modified.

The 3dmigoto mod is changing the focal plane of the HUD. I made it for that firstly.

Did you activate the HUD depth change with the arrow keys ?

If this is the case, does it mean that the depth is not high enough ?

What are your convergence/separation settings ?

And what planes did you use ?

That's the drawback of the new mod. Before the HUD was drawn 100 m in front of following planes&Helos A10C/KA50/UH1/P51D/FW190 but was shifted along Xaxis for Mig21 and FC3 planes. Now it is shifted for all planes, but the distance beetween left and right view of HUD seems much linked to separation than I though...fortunately, I made things easy to change it.

By default y value is 0.4, so 1.1 should be a good number to try if you have low separation. Do not forget to modify the second line defining y value.

the HUD depth is also to change for "on press" settings (needed for FC3 planes where I can not modify HUD without modifying MFD...)

I will make a quick test tomorrow without your mod to see if it still shows up

it should be easier to try to fix it if you make a short track showing the problem, instead of screenshot. So I will not have to try to fly in same conditions than you to reproduce the problem, but just play the track.

Mi8 sight not working and some glitches

 

I found that with the latest version of the MOD I can´t get the Mi8 sight to work. All the others seem to work fine.

 

With every version of this MOD I am seeing these anoying text messages which is especially anoying during flying. See screenshots. Anyone elso having these? It´s the same with DCS 1.2, 1.5 or 2.0

 

Is there any chance at all of getting rid of the sun (and HDR effects) at screen depth and the terrible problem with the horizon? Seems the problem with the horizon is by far the biggest problem with DCS and stereo3d right now I would really like to see this one solved. It somehow seems that the horizon problem is less severe with the new nevada map, although I´m not sure about it. I think it looks sooo good in 3d...apart from these highly distracting horizon problems.

Did you try the "up arrow" key to shift the HUD ? It should work for every sights. If the UP arrow key is not fixing the HUD, I will ask you to make some operations in order to help to fix the problem.

The horizon problem is greatly reduced with the mod. But it is necessary to delete the 3Dvision profile "Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark" with nvidia inspector in order to make it work. I should look at the profile in order to modidy it instead of supress it, but it takes some time...The sun is also pushed back, but not exactly at infinite depth. I have to work on it, but the sun and the horizon problem shared the same depth and it seems that there is no dedicated texture to sun allowing a different processing for it. As the priority is to fix horizon, the sun may stay not exactly at infinite depth...

Regarding HDR effect, I disabled it, as it is often not compatible with 3Dvision.

Yes I tried. Also deactivated all active MODS and the problem is also with DCS 1.5 and 1.2. I´m not sure when it stopped working (v2 or v3 of the 3dMigoto MOD) but it worked with v1. Hope you can get it fixed.

Hope you can fix it eventually. Can I just open a bunch of random LUA files in some text editor and search for "new dialog" as if searching a WORD file? Is that how this works? Just wondering if I can be of some help.

I didn´t know I had to remove that 3dvision profile! I just did and now I can really see a difference, much better indeed! But still somewhat visible...I´m also pretty sure that in the Nevada map, the "horizon rendered at wrong depth issue" is different when you tilt left or right. In one direction it´s very hard to see, while turning the opposite direction (forgot which side) it´s much stronger. I´m pretty sure I didn´t see that in the black sea map.

OK, I will write you a guide to allow you to give me the shader used for the mi8.

 

Can you make and post tracks showing the problems with power line and smoke ? So it will be easier for me to try to fix them.

 

And you can use superfinderXT to try to find the lua files...

Ok, here is what you have to do:

 

1) Install the mod

2) Rename bin\ShaderFixes to bin\ShaderFixes.old

3) Copy bin\d3dx.ini to bin\d3dx.ini.ori

4) Copy the attached 3dx.ini to the bin directory

5) Launch DCS. You should have a green text at the top and bottom of screen. Go to Mi8 cockpit view, activate the Mi8 sight

6) use left or right arrow key to disable shader. Press the arrow key until the sight disappears.

7) when the sight is disabled press the numpad 6 key. Do the same thing (arrow key + Num6 if sight disapears) until you loop on VS number 0. You should find 1 or 2 shaders for sight.

9) post the two *-vs_replace.txt that should be in bin\ShaderFixes. Post the ShaderUsage.txt file that should be in bin\

10) Quit DCS, delete bin\ShaderFixes and rename bin\ShaderFixes.old to bin\ShaderFixes. Delete bin\d3dx.ini and rename bin\d3dx.ini.ori to bin\d3dx.ini

Why oh why oh why do we need to have mods to fix this?! This should be high on ED's list when you consider Occulus will be out in 2016. So so frustrating!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I found my mistake. Try to replace d3dx.ini by the one enclosed.

Uparrow should now work...

You may have to replace the y=0.4 parts by a number that fit your 3Dvision settings (the higher the number is, the more HUD is pushed ahead).

You can also store 3Dvision settings in lines

;separation = 50.0

;convergence = 0.3

by uncomment them and change the values if they do not fit you.

The setting is activated by the LeftArrow key, but you can copy it to the uparrow section...

I am not sure that problems are shared between oculus and 3dvision. It seems to me that they do not use the same rendering mode : 2 different views generated by DCS engine for Oculus and by Nvidia drivers for 3Dvision. But maybe I am wrong...

Are HUD at the wrong depth with Oculus ? Is the horizon problem still present ?

I tried this new file with Mi8 in DCS 2.0 and it still didn´t seem to work, I saw no change. I did copy my separation, convergence and "Y values" from the old file to the new, but that was basically what you were suggesting anyway. Any ideas?

I just made a track in the Huey with some sling loading to show you the smoke problem. I hope you have dcs 2.0...didn´t think about that. There´s also another quite big problem with lights in 2.0 and stereo, it´s pretty strange, they sometimes seem to be in the wrong spot, like all the headlight reflections of cars on the road for instance, but probably almost all lights. Only seen it when all the lights over the city are on. However, it seems to be plane/helo and or performance dependant so will have to look a bit further. Maybe other people have the same issue? Flying around with the mig15 just now didn´t show that issue.
