ozTRipwiRE Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Hi, I am trying to learn about programming joysticks etc and I have some beginners questions about default TM Warthog commands/programming for DCS Warthog, Black Shark/BS2, FC3, Huey and Mustang. I noticed in the Options for DCS Warthog that only some commands for my new Thrustmaster Warthog joystick, throttle and Saitek Pro Flight Combat rudder pedals were listed (under the Controls section). Does this mean that even with DCS Warthog I have to program most of the commands for the stick myself or is the stick fully programmed but just doesn’t show up the commands in the Options? If only these commands that show up in the Options are programmed into the HOTAS stick does that mean that I have to use a keyboard or something like that if I don’t complete the programming? I have seen a section in the forum on profiles but as I said I am just trying to learn how all this works so if anyone could guide me on the basics of how to actually set up and use these type of profiles I really would appreciate it. Thanks, ozTRipwiRE
tintifaxl Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 The TM Warthog stick and throttle are plug and play in the A-10C module. All commands that are on the HOTAS in the real aircraft are mapped on the TM Warthog. Of course the A-10C has a lot more switches, knobs and handles on the various panels in the cockpit - those are not mapped to the TM Warthog. In all other modules you have to manually assign the commands you want to the stick and throttle. 1 Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
Sarge55 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 One additional note regarding the TM Warthog and A-10C plug and play. If you have Track IR you can take out the view functions from the trim hat so you do not have to hold shift to trim. I program all the other aircraft in DCS in game, under options/controls rather than TARGET. Pretty straight forward each A/C type has a drop down (make sure you select simulator or game if available) which ever you are setting up. To set a control just click in the box you want to set up, click add, a dialogue box opens, push the button you want to assign that function to and it will set it automatically. If you are starting from scratch ie. setting up the Su-25T for example I suggest you clear the columns then work your way through the controls to set it up the way you like it. The Sim pre-sets some pretty weird controls in the other A/C. I set my paddle switch as a modifier and it gives me twice as many functions. Also check for duplicate settings, you'll know if you push right rudder and the planes climbs LOL. This happens more often under Axis Commands, sometimes roll and pitch are also set to your rudder pedals for example. Just delete them by selecting the box and hit clear. Great stick by the way, had mine for over two years... good that you have rudder pedals though. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 10700K OC 5.1GHZ / 500GB SSD & 1TB M:2 & 4TB HDD / MSI Gaming MB / GTX 1080 / 32GB RAM / Win 10 / TrackIR 4 Pro / CH Pedals / TM Warthog
