I have a Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X joystick. I already understand that it has very few buttons, however I still hope to use it, because I am not really ready to pay 480 $ for a Warthog... though I'm getting closer by the day ;-)))

One thing I am missing with my joystick is to bind the left/right trim to the tilting lever on the throttle instead of the rudder, because it is duplicated by the Z axis of the stick. However, the Axis submenu in Controls does not list trim at all - is there a way of doing this or axis controllers cannot be bound to nonaxis functions altogether?

For what you are looking at, there is no way within DCS to assign an axis to something that is not on the axis submenu.

Does the T.Flight have any programmability (I know it's not TARGET compatible, but is there any other programming interface)? If so, you might be able to assign a digital axis within the Thrustmaster software itself (AXMAP1 and AXMAP2 are the TARGET commands).

I know this doesn't answer your question, but here's a good bit of information: If there's an axis function you would like to map, you can map to an already mapped axis by using a modifier (i.e. JOY_BTN7). This way, for example, you could use your tilting lever for Antenna Elevation in the F-15C and then use it for Zoom FOV while holding down your modifier.

It has a Mapping and Preset buttons, though I am not sure how to use them - I'll try to find out how it is programmed and see.

you should be able to do such a thing with either a joystick software like target in your case, or much simpler, with downloading joytokey...quite a handy little free program, which doesnt have the big disadvantage of target, which forces the controllers to be combined to one virtual controller...
