honjkirsen Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Hi all I just dloaded DCS world via steam & get this error message when I attempt to load the game Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Launcher.exe_DCS Application Version: 1.2.5.15865 Application Timestamp: 51ee7669 Fault Module Name: Effects.dll Fault Module Version: 1.2.5.15865 Fault Module Timestamp: 51ee76f3 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0000000000034a44 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: bcda Additional Information 2: bcda92029ec79f9425e889e34809ac3c Additional Information 3: 0f22 Additional Information 4: 0f22c9fd9194957fffbb6e4f07c731bc A launcher box briefly appears and then 'DCS world encountered a problem' Has anyone else had this issue? I have the same luck trying get A-10c Warthog to run via steam and have also tried to dload and run DCS world straight from the DCS website, again without any luck. I have searched the forums and tried the numerous fixes such as disabling UAC's & anti-virus software but still cannot get the damn thing to work. my system specs are:- Win764 bit pro, 8gb ram, Amd fx-4100 quad core, ATI Radeon 5450. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I have tried to send a trouble ticket but have received no response. Thanks
Milli Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Try doing a repair by clicking on your windows Start Button, then All Programs\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Repair DCS World May solve the problem. Regards, Milli
SkateZilla Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Try doing a repair by clicking on your windows Start Button, then All Programs\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Repair DCS World May solve the problem. Regards, Milli Im not sure these Options for DCS_Repair and DCS_Update are availible in the Steam version, will have to double check. APPCRASH Code c0000005 is ACCESS_VIOLATION. Make sure you have Admin Permissions when you run Steam Also Make Sure DCS.exe for Steam has Admin Rights. honjkirsen Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the response I tried the 'repair' in the non-steam version of DCS world still no luck, as it stands I cannot run DCS world from both steam or dloaded direct from DCS. I was wondering if anyone might know the significance of the error msg being reported as i get the same msg if i try to launch DCS world via steam or via the ED folder. A shame really as i was looking forward to getting to grips with the DCS sims. SkateZilla Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) did either one of them work before? Like I said, c0000005, is an Access Violation Code. honjkirsen Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Nope, have yet to get either working. DCS world does seem to install but then crashes at launch with the error msg i reported earlier, A-10c seems to crash as it attempts to install. I have followed instructions posted here and on steam about completely removing old files etc & performed clean installs with admin rights but still the same result. For now i will concentrate on getting DCS world running. If I cannot get it to work then I can't buy any DCS products (sob)

SkateZilla Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 That implies GPU Driver, or DirectX. What Version of the AMD Drivers Are you running? Run the latest DX9c Runtime Installer, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
honjkirsen Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 IT WORKS!!!!! DCS world & A-10. Twas my graphics card drivers....had to manually hunt a new driver down, my auto-updater said everything was up to date but it was not the case. Thanks a bunch for the help people your suggestions did eventually nudge me in the right direction. Now all I gotta do is buy a flight stick and spend the next 2yrs figuring out how to start the engines. (you peeps rock btw)
SkateZilla Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 You'd need at least Catalyst 12.10, but I'd recommend not going older than 13.1 to support the latest DX9c Runtimes Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Hamblue Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 A good place for the latest drives is Guru3d.com Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive, GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse. Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals. Trackir 5, Verizon FIOS 25Meg Up/Down

taps Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Im not sure these Options for DCS_Repair and DCS_Update are availible in the Steam version, will have to double check. APPCRASH Code c0000005 is ACCESS_VIOLATION. Make sure you have Admin Permissions when you run Steam Also Make Sure DCS.exe for Steam has Admin Rights. ACCESS_VIOLATION in this case refers to a memory access violation. This has nothing to do with Admin Rights.
