Hi all. im sorry if this as been mentioned before I play mainly helicopter side of dcs world and wanted to do some carrier ops maybe 2 teams at sea in some hueys having a battle or just some fun. so I created a mission and set the carrier to travel at 27 knots so that some p51 pilots or even a aircraft without a tailhook could have fun trying to land the problem is soon as any one lands on a moving carrier they stutter slowly forward till finaly they drop off the front of the ship. even helicopters do it. also you cant call ground crew for repairs while this is happening any ideas if there is a fix for this? or are we waiting for one of ED and also do they know about falling through parking areas on the US carrier?

Thanks guys

I believe this problem has been in DCS as long as there has been DCS. It is due to the different ground handling model from Lock-On. Currently the only solution is to have the ship immobile.

Even after naval takeoff capability was added to the Ka-50 in the mission editor, this bug was not fixed because the Ka-50 does not normally do naval operations. ED is working on an F/A-18C module, and I expect the bug will be fixed when that is released, or perhaps when it is brought to ED's attention by 3rd party customers of modules like the RAZBAM T-2 (Which I believe is nearing completion).

Other problems with the US carrier like falling through the parking area are probably because there has never been a US naval aircraft in Lock-On/DCS (not counting AI)... It's probably safe to say these things will be upgraded/corrected eventually, when they become more relevant to development resource allocation.

The naval aspect needs to be looked at/redone before the naval planes get released.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Not everybody waits, there are some guys that are creative about virtual naval air operations. They are VERY secretive about it, though.

I played with this about a year ago for a few months. This mod is for FC2. My last FC2 update was 1.2.1 .

Don't know if the user Moa that put this up still puts his modded server up in Multiplayer for FC2. When FC3 became active in DCS_World, Moa seems to have lost interest in this. There is another user that has this mod also in FC2 Multiplayer once in awhile, using workable, moving, USA carriers; if interested, look for VNAO in the server description.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=85931&highlight=Moa

In the editor you can create a moving, working USA carrier that will land his aircraft using Moa's Stallturn mod.

Make a copy of the original FC2, then mod the copy. Create a new directory for the mod.

According to Moa, all FC2 aircraft can be modded with a working tailhook, see Message #9:

and

Also do a search for Moa, VNAO or tailhook within the "Mods and Apps" forum. Looks like some guys have been attempting same in FC3. I think Moa hangs out with the 104th Phoenix squad; I know he posts to their forum frequently:

I am patiently waiting for the DCS_World F/A-18 Hornet in beta... and I bet most of the VNAO guys are, too.
