FatalCalamity Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I noticed that the airports have vehicles around them (radar, trucks, anti-air). My question is whether these are effective at all or are just there for show? I am making a map template and was wondering whether I needed to put any anti air guns or missiles around the airports or whether a blue airport will already have basic defenses against a red plane . . . ? FatalCalamity Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Well, I did a little test flight and the vehicles don't fire on you regardless of whether the airport is blue, red, or neutral. One problem that this might make is when trying to take over an airport from the other side, you might waste valuable ordinance on taking out the "fake" vehicles rather than the real vehicles that are holding the airport. Bigby Wolf Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Yeah, I think their static. Over a few years on this sim, I don't think I've ever had airport defenses fire on me. Unless you populate it with defenses, its nothing.
Grimes Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Those are "world objects" and are basically the same as buildings, bridges, etc. As far as I know the only combat vehicle used as an airbase object is the BTR-80, but again its basically a building. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. SFAL Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Yeah just statick objects. To build a defence do so.e research on it. Usualy its a battery of patriot then shorad's finaly artillery. On blue side. Russian doctine is very diffrent. While NATO has say 4 layers Ex warsaw pact has probably 8-9 layers...
