In 1991, Cleveland was the first demonstration of the Mig-29 in the United States, presumably, of the "Friendship Tour."

The memories made by little boys - an eleven-year-old, in my case - are almost mystical. Hard to judge their accuracy, I realize.

The Mig performed the cobra, naturally, and I remember feeling awe. The impressive performance of the Soviet plane kind of bugged me, though. But the F-15 and F-14 demonstrations restored my pride.

The F-15 just went vertical immediately after takeoff, full afterburner. It just disappeared into the sky. Remarkable performance.

There were two Tomcats, I think. They flew overhead, low, with afterburners and it was like an earthquake. The ground shook and the sound vibrated my innards.

It was really a dramatic airshow, with three really impressive demos. But the F-15s and F-14s made the Cobra move not so worrisome.

Excellent memory. Anybody else here got something?

I saw that video just after my post. The F-14 is in the following video, without sound. Notice that my memories feature two F-14s, when only one actually flew that day.

The F-14 is a straight-up beast.
