GC1993 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 After suffering some critical hardware issues with my new PC, I'm having to send it back for testing and repairs, where they'll wipe it clean also. One of the most tedious bits of setting up DCS world from scratch in my opinion is control mapping, particularly mapping my Flaming Cliffs 3 controls to my TM Warthog and making sure all the controllers aren't all sharing the same axis (which they do on default for me, weird). I will obviously be saving the DCS installation files to a portable HD, along with software drivers for my stuff and so on. Where in the DCS files are my control mapping settings stored? And will pasting them back into my new DCS folder up on my PC's return restore my old controller mapping? Thanks
Diemos Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 (edited) C:\Users\your name\Saved Games\DCS... * The controller stuff is in there, along with saved missions, etc. Pasting them back does sometimes work, but others have reported weirdness that is cured by deleting/redoing the controller setup. * Assumes Windows 7 Edited September 12, 2013 by Diemos

They possibly will change your hardware - which might require an other activation later again.
JD_LincsUK Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 (edited) Find them in the Config/Input folder of the directory Diemos mentioned. I back mine up every time I change something and have had no problems at all with reimporting them via the options/controllers GUI in DCSW. I think I'd go nuts if you couldn't do it. I always give my profiles an easily identifiable name such as Su-25T_Warty_Stick then delete all entries from the back-up except the ones I made myself. It's a good idea to back up the keyboard (if you change it) and TrackIR and mouse profiles, too, as I've found those messed up several times in the GUI. Edited September 12, 2013 by JD_LincsUK
