DamoclesX Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Just rather quick, Ok I have a custom built water cooled rig I setup myself and oc'd(its stable don't bother :) ) I can run high end games.. ie metro 2033 and crysis 3 at 60plus fps with ease. Is it normal for this game to run around 30-40? Also I've noticed different modules run different, I get horrible performance with the p-51, but really good with the KA-50, more so with the a-10 But on average I'm sitting around 28-30 when I'm really close to the ground and about 40plus in the air. did some testing and also noticed that while it seemed to use 4 cores, it didn't take into account hyperthreading. Ive also had to drop the sliders down a bit, to about half to get this way I was seeing drops close to 25 ect that.. well make getting close to anything populated suicide. Thanks guys, not so much as rant as wondering why?
Hamblue Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 The game only uses 2 threads at the moment. It's also CPU dependent while Crysis is GPU. What are your system specs and overclock? Also have you read through the performance guide the next thread down? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=107551 Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. DamoclesX Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 AH ok, interesting, something else must have been using the other cores, I'll check it out. 3.4 gig with 16 gigs of ram running at 1604mhz GeForce 670(not overclocked) I'll check that thread out, may be time to upgrade the graphics card, just got arma 3 and notice fully cranked its only pushing around 28-30 fps close to the ground with lots on screen(awesome game need friends to play it with lol)

whartsell Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Hyper threading is usually turned off when a system is overclocked. Yours isn't? That is only the case with extreme overclocks..I run 4.6Ghz just fine with hyperthreading on (i have some sims that actually use it) on an I7-3770K Arduino,EOS and Helios Tutorial Static ATC menu mod

This title isn't comparable to Shooters or other games for that matter. Think about the startup procedure and you realize how many systems are running in this program compared to other titles. i.e. shooter will have a gun and maybe a small map displayed at the bottom for navigation, the DCS title will have ILS. LAAP, RWR, ALT. indicator, Compass, Trim System, HUD., DMS., TMS., Coolie., Mike., Boat., I could go on but I am sure you get it. With that in mind we should never compare the two. I believe at the time your system ran low, it was being used by an update program auto run by ITunes or Apple running in the background. Windows update started on me a couple of times while running this simulator. One key issue for me is to restart my PC before attempting to run this great program. I usually leave my PC running 24\7 but notice if I restart I get very big jump in Frame Rates. sure it has to do with temp. files and cache, although don't hold me to that as it is a Hypothesis.
