Skulleader Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) Hello ;) I have one question about the Mi-8 and his lights :helpsmilie: By night when I enter in my cockpit is it impossible to have the operational red light for read the instruments and for used the strobe. If I want used these devices (red light + strobe) my 2 engines must running and the throttle full open and the generators and rectifiers: ON In this condition I can have my strobe and the red light in my cockpit, it's very strange because before to have these lights the startup procedure is almost finish, I know that the Mi-8 is not the KA-50 but in the Blackshark I can light my cockpit and the strobe once inside my cockpit and after I start the engines. If I well understand for have the light and strobe with the Mi-8 I must have the engines run and the electric power ON, in this condition I can switch ON the red light and the strobe. I can't have the red lights and strobe just after have entered inside my cockpit like the KA-50 ? Please can you confirm me that in the real Mi-8 it's the same case ? Once again I would like to thank you for your help, best regards. TurboHog Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 IIRC the beacon must be on when starting the APU/engines. Therefore you need ground power as the beacon does indeed not work on the battery. (Whether that is right or wrong I don't know) 'Frett'

Skulleader Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 In the current version of DCS: World, are the cockpit dome lights working for you? Hello, After many tests by day and night the "red / white dom light" don't work with me, all the other red lighs are OK but not the "dom light". The MI-8 is always WIP, wait & see I think... KaspeR32 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Thanks for testing that out. I have a hard time starting this helicopter at night because with battery power alone, you can't turn on the red text lights before the engines are started. Hopefully it's something they remember to finish/fix before release. Hello, You know you can easily have all the red lights inside the cockpit of the Mi-8 by night. In first you switch "ON" the 2 batteries, switch "ON" the 2 inverters, your radio "ON" with the good frequency of your base and call the Ground Crew and choose the GPU, after you turn "ON" the 2 externals switches and now you can have all the lights inside your cockpit. If you want I can give you the complete method for obtain the electric power before to start your two engines, contact me on this topic. Bye, Skull. CTD-Martin Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 The MI8 should have a ceiling light on the top of the cabin. There even is a clickable switch on both sides (pilot and copilot) to switch on the ceiling lights. BUT they are not implemented yet!! 3D modeler at Coretex Designs
