Skithis Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I'm having fun with this first campaign except for the crash to desktops which are no fun when your 2 hours into a mission with no save option. When I call in other aircraft there is a (CAP) or (SEAD) after there name in the atc menu. What do these stand for? Can I rearm/refuel and any friendly base or do I have to fly home? Also, On my first night mission I loaded up a bunch of gbu-12's for some high altitude delivery and then found out I couldn't figure out how to get the TGP out of day vis mode. The RMFCD was just black! Is there a way to get the tgp pod to scan in the dark. Its hard to differentiate between city lights and tanks.

Skithis Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 After some searching online I found that SEAD stands for suppression of enemy air defences. CAP stands for combat air patrol.
Skall Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 CAP stands for combat air patrol. CAP flights are made up of air superiority fighters. Call them in when you encounter enemy fighters as the hog is not fit for dog fighting. SEAD stands for suppression of enemy air defenses and such flights are made up of long range strike aircraft like the F-15E which specialize in taking out air defenses from a distance. If you encounter heavy AAA/SAMs, call the SEAD flight to take them out as the hog is not fight for taking out long range AAA.
Yurgon Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Can I rearm/refuel and any friendly base or do I have to fly home? Generally speaking, yes, you can refuel and rearm at any friendly airbase. I'm sure that for refueling and rearming at FARPs (Forward Area Refueling/Rearming Point used by helicopters) the mission designer must put some specific units near the FARP (tanker and ammo truck). I'm not sure whether these units are also required for regular airbases. When in doubt, just land there and try to refuel/rearm. If it doesn't work, you'll still have had some additional landing practice. :music_whistling: Also, On my first night mission I loaded up a bunch of gbu-12's for some high altitude delivery and then found out I couldn't figure out how to get the TGP out of day vis mode. I'm not sure how much sense this makes to you, but... with TGP as SOI, Boat Switch Forward for White Hot or Boat Switch Aft for Black Hot (and Boat Switch Center for daylight-CCD).
