LexiconG2 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) I finally know how you use the HOTAS controls. But it seems when I use the TGP and "paint" a target the L-GBU never follows the target designator what am I doing wrong? ff4life4 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Make sure your using the NoseWheelSteering (NWS) to turn the laser on. You need to turn it on roughly 12 seconds before impact. In the profile settings page you can also set it up to auto-laser the target for you just before impact.
LexiconG2 Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 L and M is on the HUD but L is not flashing... Damn what am I missing? This thing is not very easy to learn which I am glad but for real life I would think the OS would be a bit less consuming. kk0425 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 M means that it is masked and unable to fire the laser if I remember correctly. The L needs to be flashing then you know it's on.
dumgrunt Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) first make sure that your TGP (or more accurately what the TGP is looking at) is SPI by TMS up long, and then checking either the diamond on the HUD has a line coming off it, or by checking the diamond on the TAD has the wedding cake symbol over it. next yes you can manually lase by holding NWS, but its probably better to set up auto lase in the DSMS profiles page for the GBU-12. DO the PGM tutorial in the training missions, all will be clear. EDIT, also make sure the laser is armed, next to the TGP switch Edited October 1, 2013 by dumgrunt . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nerull Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Personally I always put on autolase for 12s in the GBU setup. One important thing not to forget when designating the SPI is that the laser must be painting the target when you set SPI, otherwise you'll actually be putting a point on the floor behind your target as SPI (it's explained fully on the forum somewhere)
Evil.Bonsai Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 L and M is on the HUD but L is not flashing... Damn what am I missing? This thing is not very easy to learn which I am glad but for real life I would think the OS would be a bit less consuming. M is 'masked' and the laser will not fire when masked. "But I can SEE my target in the TGP?!" you say? Irrelevant. The MASK profile installed in the TGP (in the SIM) takes account of just about any weapons loadout you can use. You need a really clear, obvious view away from your airframe to not get masked. Make gentle turns if you need to (towards the wing with the TGP pod, usually right) and don't make any drastic maneuvers until bomb hits.
