I cringe every time I put ground commander slots in missions now because I know what they're in for. It really isn't fair and I hope it's given due priority. Wrecking Crew Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I think it has gotten worse in the last year. GC roles take a lot of time cleaning up these jams. I can get into a stuck vehicle and use Autopilot © which will get them moving again. But this needs to be done for each vehicle. I've yet to reproduce the "stacking" issue aside from spawning AI that way. I'm honestly starting to think its an MP synchronization issue where a client is told multiple vehicles are in the same approximate location so the clients machine does some object collision logic and stacks them instead of spawning the AI inside of other AI. Just wait until you see them try and "pass" another column... It's like watching the warmup laps at the grand prix. Thats just AI navigation. Stopped units are occupying the location the AI wants to be in, so it activates avoidance logic. The distance between the stopped or slower vehicles is generally large enough for the avoidance logic to think its ok for the unit to get back to where it is supposed to be. So it attempts to turn in only for the collision avoidance to kick back in. The same sort of thing happens when you have AI driving through cities. Ground AI are constantly "fighting" to stay in specific location as the group moves, this generally it the cause of many ground AI navigation issues. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. I'm resolving it by trying to avoid the situation but as I "group to random zone" using roads sometimes its unavoidable. Not to be a jerk about it but I anticipated a bit more success on that aspect of the sim when they put out combined arms and continue to hope that at some point they'll have a chance to tackle those problems. Oh- and mods... if you can move this to the AI section as Grimes suggested that would be great. Thanks in advance.
