Mike Busutil Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Capt. Paul Hexter (pictured in the center of the first photo) came up with this disruptive black and white "dazzle" paint scheme. The design was applied to the fuselage sides and the undersides of the wings and tail surfaces. The design was meant to disrupt enemy gunners aiming point but was never adopted. Der_Fred Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 but was never adopted. Not surprised.. it's more of an in-your-face advertisement than a visual disruption. Maybe for slow moving ships, in lousy weather, against a imperfect cloudy background, dazzle might work to a certain extent.... but certainly not for fast moving aircraft against a contrasting background. Who ever thought of that idea ??
