dcdefend Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Can anyone give me some hints on how to get the F-15c to stop on the runway after landing? Just pressing, or pressing repeatedly on W for wheel brake doesn't seem to get the job done. Thanks, John
kontiuka Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Wheel brakes are quite effective but you have to be quite slowed down first before applying them. Deploy your air brake and maybe even full flaps. That should slow you down enough to use the wheel brakes. Also, make sure you're not landing too far down the runway as to not give yourself enough room to stop.
Jona33 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Deploying flaps after landing won't slow you down, in fact they will give the wings more lift. By pulling them up the plane should sit more heavily on the ground, making the wheelbrakes more effective. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
GGTharos Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 What speed are you landing at? Can anyone give me some hints on how to get the F-15c to stop on the runway after landing? Just pressing, or pressing repeatedly on W for wheel brake doesn't seem to get the job done. With the current SFM, I would be willing to bet that flaps would have no effect whatsoever after your wheels attach themselves to the runway. kontiuka Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I just did a few little "dragster" tests on the runway with the F-15C. Full afterburner for 10 seconds and then engine shutdown. Without flaps extended, the speed at the end of the runway was around 145 kts. With flaps, it was around 105 kts. This is without air brakes or wheel brakes.
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Things change around 90 knots. below 90 you shold hit the wheel brakes, above you should relay on the air brake. landing is still kind of primitive in FC3. That will all change to the better though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.

dcdefend Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 F-15C Getting to a stop Thanks for all the suggestions. I will keep working on it with those suggestions. I am just starting to fly in this game so am learning, but I never had this problem in Free Falcon 5. John
TAW_Blaze Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Try to touch down at 150 knots or lower as it is written in the manual. If you go faster you often break your wheels down, mostly due to SFM. If you're slow enough you should have no trouble holding W as hard as you wish, although being slightly gentle can never hurt initially. Oh and make sure you use flaps always, and airbrakes when necessary.
