archorn Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Hi I just brought FC3 through ED site and I just thought I'd try to activate it on Steam. And guess what? Product activated message... now nothing gets downloaded, and all I get after trying to launch DCS is "Failed to contact key server". What should I do now?
cichlidfan Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 FC3 does not work on Steam. If your Steam installation of DCS World will not start then I would use Steams repair option. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
archorn Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Steams repair did not helped ;( I realize it's kind of my mistake, since FC3 is not available on Steam, but why did it accepted code and ruined my DCS?... I will try now to re-download entire DCSW.
SkateZilla Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) You'll have to remove FC3 from your Steam Licenses. Install DCSW Standalone to use FC3, then Set it as A Non-Steam Game. This particular Error usually comes up when steam runs out of keys for something you recently bought. Also, FC3 works with steam within a limited regional area (some where in russia i guess, not entirely sure). archorn Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Can you please tell me how to remove FC3 from Steam Licenses?
archorn Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Complete re-install did not helped... Any other clues please? I also contacted Steam support for help but I'm afraid it will take many days untill they do something, if they will at all...
BRooDJeRo Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Write down your product codes for DCS displayed Steam. Close down Steam and trash it. Download DCS world and modules you need from the original game website, install them and use your product codes in those. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/ Just forget about steam in this case, you're mixing up things.
