Collective too sensitive with Warthog throttle. Any advice?

Hi guys, I'm aware that the collective was changed with the latest patch to more closely match the real aircraft, which is stunning, I am however struggling with the collective at the moment, in the fact that I only seem to have a very very small degree of movement between climbing or descending at 1000fpm. It is making landing or hovering the Huey am absolute nightmare.

Now I know it will be down to my technique, and I'm sure the fact that I've been learning and flying the mi8 a lot recently which of course needs a different control approach is the issue.

I currently don't have any curves set for the collective, would this help at all.

Are there any settings that are recommended to change

What I would like is a little more movement to play with between the two extremes. At the moment I'm going up and down like a jack in the box. :)

I use to be able to fly this wonderful bird fine, but it looks like my skills have flown the nest. :(

Before that change that you mentioned, I found flying (and esp. landing) the bird absolutely impossible. I could not get into hover without getting into VRS (and subsequently dying ...). Now, after the change on the collective, everything came together for me. I was immediately able to fly (and land) her as if i stole her. I was like ... "WOAH!" :o)

So, I am sorry, I have no advice here for you. I guess, it is really a matter of getting used to it ...

Hi Cowboy10uk,

Maybe you could try to reset all control mappings.

Here is quote from 1.2.6 news post:

Changes in this patch include keyboard and joystick input profile updates. Unfortunately this means you have to delete (or save as a backup if you wish to keep them for a possible revert to an older version) the user keyboard and joystick folders found on your Windows drive directory \\users\User Name\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\UH-1H\. Doing so will require you to remap your controls after re-launching the game. In case you didn't realize this, it could be an operation you may have to do in the future again as we continue to update the input settings of the module.

Of course, you could try to play with collective curves also.

Good luck!

In my opinion the collective is already nerfed enough. Collectives in RL are that senisitive.

I also control with THW, using the right engines lever for the collective pitch. I also inverted the axis, so I have to pull it up and backwards from the most forward position to apply collective pitch. Works wonderful.

Gonna try this, as I too am struggling with the post 1.2.6. collective settings. At least in the Huey, with the Mi-8 it just feels great and natural to me.

I think maybe it's a feature of the twin rotor? More sensitive to collective pitch changes perhaps?

The Huey is definitely a pig to land. I like the idea of reversing the collective but I've got used to it set up the same as the fixed wings.

Hi guys, thanks for the ideas, ref the throttle axis, I already have it reversed and yes you are right, it feels great this way around, I think I'm gonna have a play with the curves, I'm sure with time I'll be able t get used to it.
