Fifi Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) HI, Is there a way in ME to make the AI FW 190 not running away after some time and keep on fighting? Just because when he can't get me, or i can't get him (yes few times :D), he is always climbing and heading far away... Even sometime when damaged, he runs away (to where?), but this case seems accurate/normal though. He has 100% fuel, so that's not a fuel matter... Edited November 14, 2013 by Fifi [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Essah Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Dogfighting AI is quite bad, don't expect too much from it

Also, he hasn't spent all his ammo has he?
ENO Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) OP, can you post your mission here so we can see what you did? Maybe it's an easy fix though I agree with what was mentioned earlier about the abilities of the AI. If you want you could make a zone so that when he flies away another spawns in his place to take up the fight... Fifi Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Not sure this matters but what is his skill level? Also, he hasn't spent all his ammo has he? Medium skill level, and plenty ammo left. OP, can you post your mission here so we can see what you did? That's the default stock dogfight mission VS FW 190 that comes with P51 module. Often, after some time, he just fly away if i don't kill him in the first 5/10 minutes. you could make a zone so that when he flies away another spawns in his place to take up the fight... That's a good idea! Have to figure out how to do that in ME. Or maybe a mission to download already exist? (kind of practice mission) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
kontiuka Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 For the respawning, you'll have to use the MIST scripting tools. I don't believe you can do it with just the mission editor tools.
Fifi Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Oula!...Afraid MIST scripting is an other Chineese stuff for me, and far off my puter capabilities :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ENO Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) No I don't necessarily mean respawn... all he needs to do is activate subsequent units when the other is out of the zone. Basically hold your mouse cursor over the AI aircraft you will fight against... click "cntrl C" then move the mouse over a bit. Then click "Cntrl V" and that will paste a duplicate... click on that unit- and make it "late activation" (check box). Then click cntrl C on that one... and then make as many duplicates as you want. In the mission editor you might need to do a bit of work. Make a zone (button on the side looks like a circle with an x inside it). Make the zone big enough that you can fly around quite a bit- but that the AI will fly out of when it departs as you describe. Call the zone AI (or whatever) Go to the triggers page (looks like a switch) Do a run once trigger... call it whatever you want. Then, make a condition (middle window) "all group out of zone." You can go to the bottom of the window and see two option windows- one for the group and one for the zone. Select your group (it'll be in the drop down list) and also your zone. Should be easy- as you should only have the groups you created (you'll have to choose the FIRST group- your original opponent) in the list and your aircraft. So choose that first opponent group and the AI zone. In "Actions" (window on the far right) you just need to choose "group activate" and then choose the next AI group that you duplicated. Now then... to do this multiple times go back to the top of the far left window... and with that existing trigger that you completed selected, just press clone. An exact replica of the trigger you just made will be created. Now you just need to go into the conditions of that second trigger and change which group needs to go out of the zone (first duplicate) and then go over to actions and activate the NEXT AI that you created... Then you can clone that trigger, change the group that will be out of zone and chance the group that will be activated. If you want to get really fancy schmancy and keep your performance high you can deactivate the AI aircraft that flew out of the zone in the "actions" section. Basically, do everything above but create a second "action" that says "group deactivate." This will deactivate the AI plane that flew out of the zone... Anyway- it's really VERY simple... so give it a try! Edited November 14, 2013 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
Fifi Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Many thanks for explanations Eno  It's now much clearer. I'll try it soon. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
