Help! Cockpit view position too close to HUD after TrackIR5 recenter during flight

Recommended Posts

I purchased IR5 and enjoyed a lot.

But one thing that I am not very satisfied is that

everytime I recenter the view using F12 for IR5, then

the view position is very close to HUD.

Then I have to move backward to see the mirror and meters.

So now, before recenter, I had to move my head toward the IR sensor.

In this case, after recenter and move my head back to normal position,

the view position in the cockpit is ok and suitable.

Is there any way to set the view position after recenter the IR5?

Without IR5, the view position is good, the distance to HUD is fine. Numpad 5 works well.

But once I used IR5, after recenter, the default view position is much closer to HUD.

Who can help me?

Another problem: I remapped the recenter key from F12 to Numpad 5 in the software. However, after I entered DCS

the Numpad 5 did not work but F12 worked! I do know why. Do I need to save the change in the software? I did not find any save button.

And what I changed is the default profile.

Thanks

The head position is different once TiR is enabled. I ended up modifying it in the config files so as to have the correct HUD view by default.

One thing to know: Zoom in/out controls are independent of TiR, you can move your head closer / further away from the HUD with TiR, but the FOV changes with zoom in/out. If you haven't played with that yet, might give it a shot.

There's a checkbox that needs to be undone in the TiR software for the hotkeys called "Trap". If you uncheck that box, then your hotkey will both re-center your virtual head position as well as allow the simulator to see the key press. If "Trap" is on, only TiR will get the key press.

Seil,

What are the files (folder route, please) that you modified??...

The shame happens to me. When I'm in the cockpit with TrackIR active, the default view is right in front of the HUD, very close, so that practically all the HUD takes up the entire screen.

If I turn off the TrackIR, and entered again in cockpit, my default view is right, furthest from the HUD and all the center console visible in the screen.

I´d like the default view of Su25t was correct, like the KA50, like the A10c, or the Huey ... I really need help... :helpsmilie:

I'm not in front of my sim rig right now, but the file you need to edit is located in your "My Games" (My Docs) folder under DCS, view\server.lua

I'll double check and report back once I get home tonight... give me another.... 5-6 hours ;)

Exact file location is: C:\Users\__USERNAME__\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\Server.lua

It has been awhile since I modded mine, so if it doesn't exist you might have to go into the same path under the DCS install folder (Config\View\Server.lua) and copy that file to the Saved Games folder.

I just edited the Eyepoint and limits_6DOF arrays to find something comfortable for myself.

It can be a pain in the ass as you have to tweak the config, load DCS, instant action, note the effect, quit DCS repeat until you're happy.

No, there is no need for guessing. You can change your eye-position while the simulation is running.

1. Go into DCS World>>Options>>Misc. > Check "Enable User Snap-View Saving"

2. load a mission.

3 . disable/pause your trackir

4. hit once "NumEnter" Default FOV aka Zoom

and

"Num5" Cockpit Camera Move Center

5.now use"Num/ - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Back until the HUD fills the space to your liking.

6. Fine adjust it with

"Num2 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Down

"Num8 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Up

"Num* - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Forward

"Num8" Turn Cockpit Camera Up

"Num2" Turn Cockpit Camera Down

"Num/" FOV- aka Zoom-in

"Num*" FOV+ aka Zoom-out

7.Once you are satisfied - hit

"RAlt+Num0" to Save current Cockpit view as default for this vehicle.

8.enable your TrackIr again.

The way I did it though PeterP, doesn't use snapviews.... Not saying either way is "right" or "wrong"... I just never use snapviews.

Thanks for adding this though!
