Avimimus Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) So we've heard of the Sh-90 (and Sukhoi T-12)... but have you heard of the LVSh? 47 studies on how to decrease the cost of air-support platforms and decentralise production (in case of war). Costs were estimated to be a bout 1/3rd of the price of a Su-25. The pictures in the following link contain: - Two turboprop powered versions of the Su-25 - A light weight single-engined design with a Su-25 cockpit - A combination of a Su-25 cockpit with M-55 elements to produce an enlarged OV-10 Bronco light transport - A pusher-powered canard design intended to be slower but more survivable than the Su-25 - A smaller STOL biplane/tandem triplane WIG aircraft - Twin engined counter-insurgency bombers with Mi-24 and Kamov cockpits - A turbofan powered Su-25 See: http://bmpd.livejournal.com/673750.html Another related project was the MAI Foton series of studies for attack aircraft that are much smaller than the Il-2: http://s553.photobucket.com/user/abtex/media/SABA%20aircraft/indexphpactiondlattachtopic50-11.jpg.html Edited November 29, 2013 by Avimimus
Grimes Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 My initial reaction to seeing most of those. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Kaktus29 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 interesting.. the range extends to 1000 km, it is mostly slower, but overall i would see this concept as a nice drone program than piloted plane.. take the pilots out and fill that space with fuel and that prop plane-drone gets to stay in air 10 times longer than Su-25..
Bushmanni Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Those designs look no more funky than the A-10 initial concepts except for the floatplane(??) design. DCS Finland: Suomalainen DCS yhteisö -- Finnish DCS community -------------------------------------------------- SF Squadron
Vekkinho Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I can't see whatever's bizarre here? These ALL seem pretty decent attack aircraft [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kaktus29 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 @vekkinho yeah, i like the designs, some have drone designs almost and would do the job nicely if designed in such a role..
tflash Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Nice find! Some of the designs remind the Bronco no ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mvsgas Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Several countries have been looking for light, cheap attack aircraft for some years. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

Avimimus Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 Grimes captured my reaction exactly :D Even more here (follow the links or register to see the pictures): http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,50.105.html I like the twin-boom Mi-24... Interestingly - a lot of them are actually using engines derived from the same family as those that power the Mi-24 (TV-117 series I think)
NoJoe Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I see our beloved AT-802 in there... :) --NoJoe
