Just wanted to say hello.

Well, and ask some questions.

I want to buy DCS: A10-C. A local shop has it right now for $9.99 on DVD.

Do I need DCS: World for this? Is it on the disc or do I need to download it separately?

Can the DVD version of A10-C be integrated in DCS: World or only the download version?

When I buy Flaming Cliffs 3 too, can I use the A10-C model in there instead of the A10-A model?

Can I integrate Flaming Cliffs 3 in DCS: World, too?

Sorry, I'm still confused about all that.

My answers to your questions:

- Yes you need DCS World. Separate download.

- It can be integrated. You can use your key and download the module . Install it and enter the activation code upon starting a mission.

- The DCS Flaming Cliffs A-10A has nothing to do with the A-10C. If you buy Flaming Cliffs you can fly both. Note that only the A10C is a complete simulation of all (sub)systems.

- Yes, in the same way as the A10C

Welcome on the forums and have fun learning & flying!

In addition to the above. The version on the DVD is an older version, prior to DCS World. It will run fine as a standalone product but is not compatible with DCS World. The key, as said, is still good with the current version of the product.

You don't need DCS World to play DCS: A-10C v1.1.1-something (which the DVD version will be), as it is completely stand alone. However, if you want to play the latest version, you will need to download DCS World and download and activate the A-10C module with the serial key that comes with the DVD.

The DVD version is stand alone. Only the download module version can be integrated in DCS World.

No, you can't. Why would you want to do that?

Flaming Cliffs 3 is a module for DCS World, so not only can it be integrated into DCS World, it is the only way to play it (no stand alone).

Sorry, I'm still confused about all that.
A lot of people are.

Also, remember two things.

One, DCS World is free, so there is no real reason not to use it and plug the modules you want it there.

Two, if you are interested in Flaming Cliffs 3, you should be aware that it requires you to own Lock-On: Modern Air Combat. Or, you could buy the separate Flaming Cliffs aircrafts modules that are being released (as of now, the A-10A and the Su-25A. Next will be the F-15C and the Su-27 - I would say within 6 months, hopefully). These modules offer the exact same aicrafts as are included in Flaming Cliffs 3, but separately, and they do not require LOMAC.

EDIT: Gosh, I was too slow, most of what I have said has been said already!

Thanks for all your replies! It helped a lot.

Only one question is left now: I have Lock On on a CD (bought it years ago). Do I need to install it or is it enough to put the CD in the drive for verification for Flaming Cliffs 3?

Great, can't wait to fly the A-10! Finally good use for the joystick in the attic.

You will need to install it. It can be un-installed after you have Flaming Cliffs 3 installed, but unless disk space is that tight, I would just leave it installed for convenience in the event you need to reinstall DCS World/Flaming Cliffs 3.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!! :)
