So it's garbage now because you don't have the patience? :megalol:

Anyway, nice of you to gift the keys, I'm sure everyone can appreciate that.

you can NOT fly a real one after this..

Actually, I think you can _fly_ a real one without too much issues. (Assuming good weather.) Simply _flying_ an aircraft is really simple, and with the A-10's configuration it's a nicely stable and gentle aircraft.

It's takeoff and landing (and combat maneuvers) that are likely to kill people. :P

In my opinion I think that the DCS P-51 is much more realistic from the visual standpoint but the Xplane version handles more like I would think a P-51 would fly. But since I have never flown a P-51 I can only speculate this.

The Fighter Collection has it's own fully operational P-51D, so in the case of the DCS P-51D it's flight model etc was compared and evaluated with in-house access to both plane and pilot. :)

You obviously struggle to understand what you actually paid for so how can anyone expect you to master a few button presses, i'm sure you'll go and waste much more of your life playing some pointless shooter and learn absolutely nothing in the process.

I would start off printing out the start/stop procedure ..... it comes to you surprisingly fast ..... then do an autostart and go flying , get the feel of it . But keep practicing the start/stop .

I found everytime I opened up the game I would remember a little more each day .

Don't give up , call it a challenge ..... you will be surprised I am sure :) and be glad you stuck with it .

Good luck .....

Guys, I know it's tempting, but please don't attack him personally. That'll just make me close the thread. I'm keeping it up for now in case he has a change of heart.

Actually I feel like his frustration is somewhat justified - at least a little bit.

DCS and its tutorials are terrible unfriendly to new comers, and if it ever wants to get a larger audience (which i'm assuming being on Steam is for) then it will have to have a lot more hand holding built in.

I don't agree. Simming has never been about plugging in and logging off. Certainly documentation can be better, but look at this guy's reaction AFTER asking the community for help.

6 pages of advice, a whole forum full of threads many of which other members would link you too, an internet full of helpful videos a youtube search away.

This nonsense that somehow you can rage quit from a complex study sim because the game didn't include a hand holding walk through tutorial is silly.\

The problem is gamers expect simple games that can be explained and learned to a decent proficiency within 20 minutes. How do you make it easy for someone to start playing a game which seeks to recreate a skill which requires hundreds of hours of practice before even being allowed to fly by yourself in real life?

Yes the tutorials can be better, but this OP's attitude would not be helped by the best tutorial in existence. The game is just not user friendly to those who cannot help themselves.
