First campaign mission with weapons

Hi@all

 

I have a problem with the first mission of the campaign where you go to the weapons testing range. I fly the correct path, get the message to "go weapons hot" and fly over the truck and tank.

 

But i don't get the permission to shoot. And when i shoot - the mission gets aborted :(

 

What do i have to do? Is there a special trigger? I also have the problem that i cant get into the communications menu - only when i land the heli on the ground. Someone knows an answer?

Is this the first pass ? From memory - Isn't First pass a sighting run, second run you're supposed to engage the target ?

From memory, when you reach the range, you're supposed to make your first pass without firing at the targets, then do a 180 and return to the range control (a hut with a KAMAZ truck next to it) and do two more passes firing weapons as in the briefing. You should get a message between each pass.

I believe the trick is to continue south-east-ish after the first message that tells you to head for the target. The route should take you over a village. This is shown in the mission briefing screens, but very easy to miss when actually flying the mission. I've attached the image from the mission file. I think by sticking closely to the route as shown in the image and by making sure to fly over waypoint 3 before each pass towards the target, the mission should work okay.

I have next problem. I haven't seen any target no.1. There is no tank but truck only.

It's pretty hard to spot, but it should be roughly where the briefing screen indicates. From the Ingress Point at WP3, the tank should be circa 500 meters to the right of the truck.

 

Or maybe the mission played an April's fools joke on you and ate the tank. :D

This is it, I know where first target is to be. I watched on briefing picture a lot of times. I opened this mission in mission editor and there were two targets. The first one as a static object, the second one as a ground vehicle. Maybe there is the problem.

Also, at some point in the mission, I have to contact "Buran". (Comms menu + F10) But I can not bring up the comms menu? It works fine in other missions...

While airborne, you need to use "Radio Trigger RADIO". You'll find it under Controls -> Mi-8MTV2 Sim -> INS Cyclic Stick. By default it's RALT + \ IIRC.

 

I think that should do the trick, but if it doesn't solve the problem, it would be best if you could post a track.

Nailed it this time. Thanks for all the advice. The mission looks quite simple, to shoot up some static vehicles. But the design of the mission is pretty refined, altough somewhat annoying, having to wait for the weapons hot and losing the permission to shoot. Now I'm off to exchange the pots in my joystick for HALL sensors. ;)

Hi all,

 

After some initial difficulties, by following precisely instructions on page 1 and 2 and 3 of the briefing, I got authorization for shooting.

 

However after the second firing pass, I get this message:

 

 

And after landing at the base, this message is displayed:

 

 

Is it a bug?

 

I think the truck is destroyed:

 

 

But I suspect the tank is only hit? If so, your advice would be much appreciated.

 

 

I also attach my track for you to check.

I did the mission again but it still says "failed" :helpsmilie:

I eventually succeeded.

 

Initially I think I was not complying with:

 

1) The recommended speed for attack: 160-200 km/h

 

2) Height: not below 200 m above ground

 

3) Shoot the target from 1500-2000 m for the tank and 800-1500 m or so for the truck
