jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Hi there, I bought the A-10C Warthog from the ED store, but how do I install it in Steams DCS World? when I try to install the program it ask for Directory but then it says DCS world not installed... I have check my DCS World menu in Steam and I have no CD keys option in the right side of Menu, so is that saying the ED-store has not transferred my information and Key to Steam, this seems very confusing to say the least. So how does one install the A-10C_1.2.6.20768.297-292.exe file, what directory should I install too? What happens when Installer says its DCS World can not be found? HELP!!! Thank you for you help. jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 How, I have read many threads on this and I have not found a clear solution. Anybody point me in the right direction?
wolf5 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Just add your ED key in activate no steam game People fly planes, pilots fly helicopters
Interceptor Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Top of SteamMainWindow --> Games --> Activate a Product on Steam
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 I tried adding my key to that activation field, and it came back as invalid key.
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 I tried that but when I did, it looked for a game that was already installed and it is not listed, remember the A-10C warthog is a module for the DCS World that is already installed.
Hobo Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 DCS World should be what you add to steam, nothing else, following Interceptor's instructions.
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Hi Hobo, I have DCS World already installed. When I try to add the Key that E-store emailed me from www.digitalcombatsimulator.com following Interceptors instruction it says key is invalid. remember the DCS World is Free, All I am trying to do is add the A-10C Warthog Aircraft which is a expansion module. Which I bought from digitalcombatsimulator.com directly. that leads me to another question, what do I do with the A-10C file that I downloaded from the digitalcombatsimulator.com , the way I am reading this is that file is not even needed, Once that key is valid in the steam system, it will then download the A-10C within the Steam DCS World and install the A-10C warthog directly... I am right? thanks for helping me out. Edited December 30, 2013 by jn1053
Interceptor Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) I binded all of my Modules that I got from ED-Store in Steam with "Activate a Product on Steam". Only SU-25A and A-10A do not work, because i own FC3! Few Minutes ago, i bound the MI-8 with no Problems. Edit: If this key is a new one, than try the binding in 1 or 2 months. It's possible that your key isn't in the steamDB at the moment. Edited December 30, 2013 by Interceptor
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Finally, hope... Yes, I just bought the A-10C about 3 hours ago. The serial has not been binded or activated yet, I will go and bind it to a steam account. thank you so much. John.
Interceptor Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 You know you can bind your key to your Steam AND ED-Account at the same time?!
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 DO I have to login to the ED-store, and unbind it, if it has not been activated yet? thanks
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 how do you bind your ED-account to Steam?
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 currently it says the following within my ED store account Bound user: XXXX Bind date: 30.12.2013 Order: #XXXX (NXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) from 30.12.2013 by XXXX Product: DCS: A-10C Warthog (download version) do I need to un-bind that and then bind to steam account?
Interceptor Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) NO! The keys can be binded simultanously on Steam AND ED! Better Solution: Go away from steam and use the DCS-World-Download from ED. DCS-World A-10C 1st: Install DCS-World 2nd: Install A-10C-Module Edited December 30, 2013 by Interceptor
jn1053 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for helping me out... John. I was hoping not to install DCS as a stand alone, but I am figuring out quickly that I might have to do that. how do I bind my ED account to my Steam account. thanks again..
Interceptor Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 You bind the keys to an account, not the account to another account!
EtherealN Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 jn1053, I believe I answered your support ticket a little earlier, you will find some information there, if that was you. Here's the important points: You do NOT need to unbind anything to make it work on Steam. That is for transferring keys to a friend; not to your own account to Steam. To use your key on Steam, you do NOT use the installer downloaded from here. Steam cannot accept it because Steam will handle all installs on Steam for you. Steam accepts keys through you pressing Games > Activate a Product on Steam. Then enter the key. That's it. No install files, no nothing; if Steam accepts the key it will handle the rest for you. However, please note that it can take a while for the database entry of your key to be transferred from Eagle Dynamics to Valve. Therefore your key might not be possible to move _yet_. Again: it has absolutely nothing to do with "unbinding". Don't worry about that thing at all, it's completely irrelevant.
