Is there any difference between Lock-On, Modern Air Combat and Air Combat Simulator?

I am asking because I already had Lock-On Air Combat Simulator, which is still easily purchased in the UK. I had wanted to purchase Flaming Cliffs 3 but had some difficulty in obtaining LOMAC but eventually found a local company adverting LOMAC so I ordered it. While waiting for delivery I purchased Flaming Cliffs 3 and found to my surprise that it installed with my Lock-On Air Combat Simulator already installed!

I have just received delivery of the purchased cd, advertised as LOMAC, but on opening the parcel it is actually another copy of Lock-On Air Combat Simulator. :(

So far everything works fine but I have an old slow PC which I hope to replace next month so I would just like to know if my installation is legitimate.

Lock On Modern Air Combat is the first game of the series which belongs to Ubisoft, after that there is all the Flaming Cliffs which belong to Eagle Dinamics and therefore you need the first one to play the Flaming cliffs, just a matter of rights ownership.

Eagle Dynamics has then built its own Sim World : DCS World and you can install modules in it, like Flaming Cliffs, which is now a module of DCS World, not a stand alone product (only this Flaming Cliffs3 needs LOMAC for module to work in DCS World).

So you can erase your LOMAC and FC3, install DCS World in your new PC and then install the modules directly from ED webpage and put in your code.

I did exactly that and then bought A10C, P51 and Combined Arms.

For me, the best right now.

Cheers

If you are going for FC3 your Lock-On Air Combat Simulator is OK! The "Modern Air" was used in USA only I think. You only need the Lock-on files to exist on one local disk to correctly license FC3! Go ahead :D

EDIT: You don't even need to start th LOMAC sim! It can be a bit tweeking to get it going if you are on Win7 64 bit or Win8 64 bit already. You need 64 bit OS!

Thanks guys for the responses. Good to know that my Lock-On Air Combat Simulation is legit for FC3. I think that this should be clearly explained in the system requirement of FC3 as I had assumed that only LOMAC could be used and for anyone outside the USA this is difficult to obtain.

Could the FC3 system requirement then please state that LOMAC or LOACS or a previous version of Flaming Cliffs must be installed prior to installing FC3. I am sure that this would bring in more business as I had been holding off buying FC3 as I could not obtain LOMAC.

Now I have 2 copies of LOACS:)

Now I have 2 copies of LOACS:)

Give it to a friend and do the Co-op missions together. Almost all SP missions can easily be changed to co-op for 2 players.

I don't know anyone else who uses DCS but I must try multiplayer when I get the new PC as I really struggle with my current PC to get reasonable performance

If anyone is having difficulty obtaining LOACS then I would willingly send them the spare copy.
