Neon67 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Don't know if already reported , but when the yellow sliders are at minimum, the ka-50 is able to take off and fly. It should only be avaiable when set to auto or full power
sigzegv Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Same issue here, engine power levers at minimum, then collective up to max, ka50 takes off as if it were in auto... 1
AlphaOneSix Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 This is proper operation. Also note that the aircraft will *not* perform "as if (the throttles) were in auto", it will actually perform worse. It's hard for me to test since that's just not something we try on the helicopter, but from reading and re-reading the documentation, it does appear to be working properly.
roob Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Puzzling, or just very powerful engines :) Edited January 7, 2014 by roob My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
Neon67 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 well there is no difference if set to low or auto in the behaviour of the ka50. Maybe you can take off, but it should be difficult
AlphaOneSix Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Not puzzling once you know how the engines work. The throttle moves (obviously) the throttle on the engine(s). The collective moves (obviously) the pitch of the main rotor blades, and also (not so obvious) the throttles on the engines. well there is no difference if set to low or auto in the behaviour of the ka50. There is a difference, although I will grant that it may not be completely obvious. Maybe you can take off, but it should be difficult Do you say this because it is your gut feeling, or do you have some experience with the TV3-117VMA? Edited January 7, 2014 by AlphaOneSix
Neon67 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 i remember that the behaviour was really different.
ShuRugal Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 It would astonish me greatly if the KA-50 did not have some mechanical fallback for operating the throttles as a function of collective in the event that the governors should fail...
AlphaOneSix Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Depends on what you mean by "governors". If you're referring to the Engine Electronic Governor, it has no effect on the physical throttle setting, it just restricts fuel flow in order to prevent overspeeds and overtemps. Anyway, moving the collective DOES move the throttle, but that's not a fallback, that's just how it works all the time.
Neon67 Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 Yes , the same goes by the Huey i think. However will it make a fully loaded Ka50 take off and fly like in auto ? It affects the RPM and so lift capactiy

Which version? 1.2.7 or 1.2.6? Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
msalama Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I'd say this is correct behaviour because of the collective / throttles linkage. And there _is_ actually a clear difference in the spoolup time, too, because you only start at 75% N1 or so. And oh yeah, I put the throttles to idle while hovering as well... aaaand survived. Barely :D Running v1.2.7b here. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
ZaltysZ Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 The easiest way to check the difference is by looking at vertical speed indicator. Take off with min throttle and then with auto, you should eventually build more m/s on auto. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
