http://www.dcslogbook.com/ is a fully functional, detailed logbook for DCS that accurately records multiplayer profiles. There is a detailed ranking system, medal structure, point system, data recording, and full mission logs.

The alpha version is now downloadable and accessible to the public at http://www.dcslogbook.com/. More features will be added frequently.

This really adds a lot of depth to your DCS experience. Try it out.

Happy you like it. More will be added tonight, like medals for accumulated flight hours. We have medals implemented for mission activity already.

When I try to start the program, I get a popup that says "Waiting for DCS World" and goes no further.

That's when you want to start the game. You want the program to say "monitoring DCS". It will log your mission data every 90 seconds.

1. Start the program.

2. Fly DCS.

3. Check your profile upon mission completion.

You may need to stay in DCS for 90 seconds after your mission if the timing is just right. Otherwise it won't upload your mission until you go back into DCS.

The logbook begins recording when you takeoff. If you start in the air, it will not log your mission. We have done this for the sake of realism.

What happens if the server or client crashes? Great job btw.

Depends on the crash. As long as DCS created a log file, it will be updated.

Again: You must takeoff to initiate data recording. If you start in the air, it will not count.

just getting client stoped working?

Could you perhaps attach a screenshot of the crash information, or send it to me in a private message? (I'm the programmer of the logbook)

Is anyone having technical problems with the logbook? We notice that many people who have registered have not yet submitted a log entry, which leads me to think that perhaps there is a problem with the software application?

This may be a local problem on my computer but I uninstalled the client and ran a system restore as my computer started to behave strangely. What is the client doing actually? Can you document what it does including what files is installed/changed? How does the code check for DCS activity? Do you read the registry to find all DCS installations? Or do you just check for the running services?

Don’t get me wrong, the idea with an online logbook is very good but I need my computer to perform at its best all the time!

It's impossible for it to have an impact on your computer.

All it's doing is reading your debrief log. The website then takes these figures and assigns ranks and awards depending on those variables, entirely independent from your systems.

Essentially, it's reading a text file.

That is all.

We were trying something with a friend together and I shot down an AI, got the kill message, but it didn't register. It was counted as "hit".

Can't upload the track here, I'll put the link to it here:

edit: Now a more weird thing happened.. we flew 2 missions, one of them we took off, flew a bit and then quit, nothing happened.. second was the one I described, with a landing in the end. Now I have 2 missions on record, one of them with the landing and one of them without it (unknown result). But what's completely unreal is that I have hit record on both of the missions on the same AI even though in one sortie I didn't even fire a single time. Got no track for the other sortie, unfortunately.

I checked your log file in the database that the game recorded and for some reason it didn't give you a kill record in the log. Maybe you aborted out before it hit the ground, or something?

Seeing your data like this is already helping us tune the system.

OK so how do you get the location of the textfile then? Reading the registry?

My guess: checking the files in %appdata%\SavedGames\DCS World\Logbooks\

Edit: Your problem might be a Windows Update or something...

There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.

I have a request for a future feature: parsing the dcs.log for output from scripts within the mission so you can log stuff like number of submarines sunk, objectives achieved, troops transported or flags captured etc.

Correct. You actually set the path to the log file when you first run the application.

Something's bugged with the kill counts. Just ran our squadron's mission and had 4 kills on AI confirmed, none of them counted on the logbook.

Also could use a total flight hour count.
