sondo214 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 when you release the trimmer button and lets say have the rudder off center, the time you release the trimmer button, the ruder takes as neutral position the new one and the amount you have the rudder pressed is then added to the new neutral position and as a result the tail moves even further until you release the rudder. In huey, there is a feature that you can add some time (0-0.5 sec) when you release the trimmer button that the inputs are not taken into concideration so that you can center the rudder pedals without the tail kicking... this is done by modifing the parameter 'sticktimelag' in the FMoptions.lua of the Huey. Problem is that this parameter does not exist in Mi's lua and this can't be done
Weta43 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 See below (& have you checked central position trimmer ?). Cheers.
sondo214 Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Thats not what i am talking about. Central position trimmer may be good for the rudder pedals but its not so good for thr cyclic. At least my cyclic. The feature i am talking about is something else
Weta43 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Yes, but you can have ffb going for the stick, and uncheck the rudder trim, then the rudder doesn't trim at all - if you have pedals that's what you're after isn't it (as there's no trim on the real thing's rudders - the rudder trim is only there for twist grip stick users) No ? Cheers.
sondo214 Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Ok you maybe right, but I had really liked the mod for huey (the 'sticktimelag' parameter) and all I am asking is if this is going to be implemented to Mi-8 as well. I do not examine if it is real or not... (But for your information rudder pedals in real life stay where you place them and do not return to the center as pc pedals do because they have the spring in them). So no in real life you do not have to apply power to pedals all the time, only when you want to change their position. But in pc without trim you have to. That's why trim is helpfull only in pc and does not exist in RL.) That's all
skouras Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Yes, but you can have ffb going for the stick, and uncheck the rudder trim, then the rudder doesn't trim at all - if you have pedals that's what you're after isn't it (as there's no trim on the real thing's rudders - the rudder trim is only there for twist grip stick users) No ? actually the real thing has a trim for rudders [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog
sondo214 Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 You are right skouras, some (maybe most) newer helicopter even have trimmer for the pedals too. Πες τα ρε αγόρι...
Weta43 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 actually the real thing has a trim for rudders True, but not trim that centres the pedals while still adding rudder. The most realistic option would be FFB rudder pedals, but failing that, the next best option is probably taking the centring spring out of flight sim rudder pedals so they'll stay where they're left without needing to constantly apply pressure. Personally - I see the central trimming method for rudder very much a concession to the equipment we have rather than a representation of what exists in the real aircraft (A useful one - I use the twist on my MSFFBII as rudder) Cheers.
Flagrum Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 If I understand the OP correctly, this is not about central trimmer method yes or no, but about "if central trimmer, then also stick time lag is necessary". Which is the case for the Huey and, I believe for the Blackshark, but atm not for the Hip.
Weta43 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 You're right - that's exactly what he's after, and what the situation is, (but till the situation changes, removing the springs on his pedals would be the best option).... Cheers.
sondo214 Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Maybe the removal of the spring is the best thing to do. Do we have any link of anyone that has done it?
Cibit Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 What kind of pedals? I have had the coverplate off the saitek ones before and nothing will pop out if you remove yours. I don't remember a spring being obvious on the bottom of the assembly. If your still stuck let me know and I will gut my borked ones before you try with unbroken ones i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
