I think you confuse an actual IR jammer with the IR suppression systems that can be mounted to the engine exhausts.

 

Those mix the hot engine exhaust gases with cold air ingested at the front of the "boxes", before expelling that cooled mixture to the rear.

 

If they are installed they work independently from any power circuit, they just work :thumbup:

I was under the impression that the mi-8 had an IR jammer aswell.

The Mi-8 does have an IR jammer visible on the external model (it's the big "mosquito lamp" behind the engines). I don't remember reading if it'll be functional in the final version, it doesn't seem to be functional now...

I was asking about IR jammer long time ago, but it was left unanswered by the devs... maybe this means they are not sure yet. Anyway, this "disco-ball" type of IR jammer is already obsolete and for the modern ir missiles it may work as a red cloth for the bull :D

 

This President-S IR jamming system is the way to go :thumbup:
