Yurgon Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I had this idea that I wanted to create an SP mission that requires the player to fly different types of aircraft within the same mission (for now that would be Huey, A-10C and then another Huey). Is it possible to "switch" the player over to another aircraft using the ME or possibly MIST? So far I have three aircraft (one A-10C and two UH-1H) set to skill "Player" and "Client". If I play the mission and then go into the "Briefing" screen, I can select the intended aircraft at the intended time. But I'd prefer it if this could be automated so that the player doesn't need to switch aircraft by hand. It would be even better if the briefing screen did not show any of the aircraft that are not to be selected by hand. On a side note, I believe it could become a problem for other players to switch aircraft mid-mission if they need to toggle controller profiles (actually I have this problem myself because I've set up a TARGET profile for Ka-50, but I don't use TARGET for any of the other modules. DCS won't recognize the "new" controller if I flip a TARGET profile on or off while DCS is running). To circumvent that problem, it would probably be best in the long term to simply create one mission for each flight of what is intended to be one long(ish) mission. Would it be better to create a mini-campaign for this, or would it be better to use the ME action "Load Mission"? That action apparently loads a mission file right away (at least I think that's what it does, but I haven't tested this action yet). Any thoughts and input welcome. :)
ENO Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Just my two cents- I think it might be easier to "load mission" at the end of accomplishing required objectives. You could even do it that "to fly the mustang next you must land here and do these objectives and to fly the huey next you must land over here and do these objectives." The mission loaded could depend on what objectives were accomplished and what field was landed at. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. Speed Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Is it possible to "switch" the player over to another aircraft using the ME or possibly MIST? No. However, if the player picks the wrong aircraft, you could deactivate them and pop up a message telling them which aircraft they should be flying. 1 Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. Thx for the input. :) No. However, if the player picks the wrong aircraft, you could deactivate them and pop up a message telling them which aircraft they should be flying. Not quite the answer I was hoping for, but as a work-around that sounds like a good idea. Thx as well. :)
