chris455 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I use 'difficult" COMMS with no problem. Can communicate with wingies, tower, ground crew except: In the manual it states that when on final, you should request permission to land a second time, and tower should respond if the runway is clear. He never does. When I announce "Inbound" I get two messages from the tower, one is an acknowledgment, the other is "cleared for visual, contact tower". But when I request permission to land when on final- nothing. Only when I touch down am I told to taxi to parking. What am I missing? Second question: AN/APS-13 radar works great as far as the orange light on the dash goes- but documentation states a bell should sound as well. I don't hear a bell. There is a volume control on the radar receiver that states VHF radio volume or some such. I turn it up all the way and still do not hear an audible alarm when the radar warning light comes on. Again, what am missing/doing incorrectly? Thanks in advance guys! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Remembering Arlie "Jack" Campbell, US Army Air Forces, WWII. Well done dad, rest in peace.
Nealius Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I think the ATC is just bugged. I don't recall getting landing clearance from tower at all in the P-51, A-10, or the UH-1.
9.JG27 DavidRed Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 could also be that you approach on the wrong runway?IIRC then after asking for permission to land, tower will give you windspeed and direction, as well a reminder to check your landing gear... make sure you approach on the correct runway

Have you personally heard ATC do these things? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Remembering Arlie "Jack" Campbell, US Army Air Forces, WWII. Well done dad, rest in peace.
9.JG27 DavidRed Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 yes!every time i contact ATC, and if course only if the channels are set up properly in the mission itself.

It seems that you have to be on the glide slope (guessing game with the Mustang!) to ever be able to obtain clearance for landing. If you are too far off, they will just ignore your request for landing. Not sure if this is expected or bugged, as I'm only a mediocre virtual pilot at best :) My feeling is that it can't be right, because if I have to get so close to the runway to actually obtain clearance, and the tower has reasons to refuse it, it may just mean that something bigger or faster is coming in from behind you! :helpsmilie: My humble rig: Windows 10 pro 64bit; i7-6700k on Gigabyte Z170X G7; 32GB; MSI 980ti Twin Frozr; 512GB Samsung 950 Pro (NVMe/PCIe x4); 1TB Samsung 850 Pro; Komplete Audio 6; TrackIR 5 Pro; DCS 2.5 with almost all modules; favourites: Shark, Mi-8, Harrier, Viggen, Mirage, Hornet
