lazduc Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I would appreciate a procedure for loading the core, DCS, and the modules and FC which I believe includes all the newest aircraft from that series. I have purchased most of the titles. I have a new computer I will load all of this on. It has Win7. I will load all onto a ssd drive except the OS which will be on a different ssd. I do not want any BETA software, so please indicate which is a final releasè. At this time is 1.6 a final release without problems? I read that 1.7 is in beta so I do not want it. Also I do not want the auto loader to update anything without approval. Or should I continue waiting for EDGE as I have read it will be totally different. And will probably entail a complete reload of everthing. I have waited through 1.4, 1.5, 1.6........and it appears all have numerous issues. I do not really want to wait any longer for a stable release........or is there one???? I just want to load the software I have purchased without having to reload, update, reconfigure, repair, etc. etc etc. I can fly my old FC platium without any problems........so help me out......I want to use the software and enjoy it, not spend all my time trouble shooting. Lazduc :D
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 At this time 1.2.7 is a final release. Download here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ All the modules you can download in the module manager (which is in the single player part of the sim). Schnittertm Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 As Dark Eagle said, 1.2.7 is the current stable non-beta release build, but seeing as DCS World is in a continual flux, being upgrade, fixed and having new aircraft, systems and technologies added, your wish for a final stable release, that does not need any more updates will not be granted for a long time. Also, as this is quite a complex piece of software, you will not get it fault free at any point in time, same thing with almost any type of software out there that is more complex than a 'Hello World' program. The issue can be exacerbated by outside software, including, but not limited to, the OS, drivers, third party software running in the background, etc. etc. On a PC (in comparison to consoles), as it does not have a fixed hard- and software base, you'll never be totally free from trouble shooting problems, you can only use good habits to reduce the amount of trouble shooting that you have to do or the time spent with it (e.g. keeping drivers and software current, trying things without overclocking, using fairly common instead of specialized hardware). If you, however, find that as a detraction, that things might break or that you'll have to do troubleshooting at times, then maybe DCS World isn't for you right now. On the other hand, if you can adapt to and live with the reality of the situation, enjoy the sim while it lasts and just have fun with it. ;)
Darkwolf Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Everything is more or less beta in DCS. :P Unlike other games that goes gold and get a few patches, DCS is a living platform, that keeps getting updated and improved with new features. If you want a finished product that will stay as it, get FC2 instead of DCS. If you want to stick to "almost finished product with only little bugs" - You can DCS and all modules but the Mi8 - which is still work in progress. Last complete BETA phase is over so you should not worry about it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] PC simulator news site. Also....Join the largest DCS community on Facebook :pilotfly:

Some updates, like the latest Huey update, will require reconfiguring your controls as features are added. This is pretty much unavoidable with this sim.
