Do you have an antivirus software? I yes - disable it temporary.

also, install the sim to a directory outside of the C:\ Program Files (eg C:\ Games - which you would need to create)

I have the same problem. I have installed dcs outside the program files folder, and I have av disabled. I have also ran the updater with admin privilege. The problem persists.

I checked the folder under question. The read only tab is checked in the property panel. I think that is the reason. The problem is that I can't uncheck it...

Guys, thanks for the input.

Unfortunatelly neither disabling AV nor assigning permissions to the dcs_updater.exe did the trick. Still getting the same error

Permissions, (right click root folder - Properties/ Security tab/ select User, then edit button) not the .exe only

Hello! I've tried the update but I'm getting the following error message:

Anyone know way around this?

If you are still having issues with this, I had the same problem running win xp sp2. I copied the DCS_Updater.exe from the \Documents and settings\Username\Local settings\Temp\DCS to \DCS World\bin folder after removing the file of the same name and it worked. The paths may be different in later versions of windows. I'm still having trouble updating to the latest version with it, tried everything in the forums. This will just let you run the game with the latest updater file, they are still having trouble getting it to update though....WTF
