  1. Here is my AAR for the 10th LLTM in Ahaus, Germany! I arrived on Thursday, one day before the official opening of the LLTM in Ahaus, Germany. I knew for years about the LLTM but somehow i always missed it but this time we presented Black Shark for a wider crowd, being supported by Andreas "Urze" Urzedowski from www.leftside-limited.com and Massimiliano Rotti from www.xfighterseat.com. Jim "JimMack" Mackonochie and me were there for ED`s site. Well, the first day was more about building everything and a first walkaround. Some guys had built their F-16 Pits which blasted me right away. This LAN / meeting is a MUST for EVERY serious pit builder. I saw 100 % working F-16 pits, where _every_ knob / switch is workin in game! After we had setup our Black Shark corner Jim and his lovely wife arrived. It was getting late and some of us went to the hotel and others tried desperately to find some food in ahaus at 10 PM. Its harder than you would think. Here is a picture, Massimiliano trying out Black Shark: Friday the hall filled with crowd and of course more people were pouring in with their PCs or full built cockpits. The day went on and on and i met many guys from the Lockon community and made many new friends. We were rather busy because there were participants and visitors which wanted to try out Black Shark. Urzes 4 Monitors setup was a eyecatcher so he had all the people standing around his crazy setup while i had time to explain more details, like weapons deployment and such stuff. Jim`s task was to show the new Mission Editor and the possibilities this amazing Trigger system will bring to the mission builders. Sebur came to us and brought Jim and me a present, a bottle of finest wine from his region. You have to check out his absolutley crazy cockpit. Simply hop on to http://lan4friends.de/cockpit/cockpit.html ! It was a pleasure to see you again Sebur! Urze`s Crazy Setup and Massimilianos X Fighter Seat ( with Ka-50 skin ;) ) In the meanwhile our "Dutch Modding Crew" arrived, together with their Su-27 Joystick and the Su-27 Panel. Amazing, Superb, Unbelivable - heck, i will let the pictures speak on this one! Su-27 Joystick ( yes, the coolie hat works and is pressable ! ) . obviously, stick is still WIP: Su-27 Panel: As already mentioned in the thread in the forums i bowed in front of the guys in behalf of Triggerhappy and of course, me. Well, the rest of the day i tried to get in touch with some guys from the Lockon and Falcon community. Unfortunately i didnt had the time to speak longer with the Il-2 simmers but i will get in touch with them next year, being a old "Ace" in Warbirds ( anyone remember this ? ). The competitions started also on Friday and most of the guys had briefings during Friday. The briefings were held in a cinema in the facilities of Tobit Software in Ahaus, which were providing catering and the facilities for the whole event. Saturday was a very busy day as we had many visitors which wanted to try out Black Shark, so i had barely time to make any pictures. As the Falcon 4.0 guys were flying their competition mission i made a picture. Obviously Falcon guys fly on monochrome monitors : ;) The day went over and we came to the last day of the event which wasnt that stressfull anymore. I had more time to meet and greet with guys and i had a fantastic time! Im very proud of meeting two guys from a polish forum which im usually visiting. Even they are Falcon 4.0 simmers they liked Black Shark very much. You have to visit this awesome event to feel the "Tiger Spirit"! No flaming between the communities, just cool guys, and at the hotel bar you can have some funny talks with guys playing Falcon and Il2. Meeting with polish friends: It was time for the end ceremony and the prices for the competition winners. The prices are amazing! The guys were getting TrackIRs, WLan Routers, Books from The Flying Legend and - a visit to a OPERATING DUTCH AIRFORCE base, which included: Simulator time in a F-16, attending a pre-flight briefing etc. I was a little bit jelous ;). Jim took the mic as one of the last and thanked the whole organization team for doing a outstanding work and promised that we`ll be back next year. Jim: So here is my conclusion: Grab your gear and come to the LLTM! Its unbelivable until you have been there. I would like to thank: Dee and Jim, Lorena and Massimiliano, Urze and of course Marijana for being there and us having a stressfull but great time. Jan "Ice" Hilt and his whole team for organizing this awesome event! SeBur for being like he is :D The whole bunch of Jabog32 for representing the Lockon Community on a very high competitive level. Special thanks goes to Woody ( next time in Wuppertal, all beers on me ). Joe Kurr, HPO and Wassefall. You guys do amazing work for the Lockon Community! EagleEye for driving 400 Kilometers just to play Black Shark! Mav1994 for being there and playing lockon on a competitve level, which is a quite unusal hobby for a 13 YEARS OLD boy. The polish simmers community which attended ( you know who you are ). Tobit Software for being a fantastic host. And everybody who i might forgot ( sorry ). See you on LLTM `09

  2. I would rather donate ED for BS as a freeware but paying for not full product is kinda silly idea.

  4. I know it's OT & re-hashing old arguments, but I find that such an odd attitude. When ID software went from DOOM to QUAKE (I'm pretty sure they're not putting out patches for the original DOOM any more), or as each itteration or Need For Speed (or GTR etc) came out, did their communities berate and abandon them because they had 'Ended' the series ? No - players embraced the change & improvements it brought with it... Simillarly - When any FPS / MMOLRPG / Racing SIM developer develops a new engine ( & moves on from the last ) the respective communities accept that technology moves on & opens the door for better things. Think of what the present technological complaints are about DCS.BS - (Shadows, lighting, lack of fully detailed player radar modelling, no A/G radar model, seeker issues, worries about frame rates etc) almost exclusively aspects that are limited by the capabilities of the present engine. The LO Engine has reached (past) the end of it's development lifecycle, and for things to move on, it has to be left behind, but that's a good thing... That said - people can keep playing the LO series till a DCS module that interests them comes out, but would you really rather that the community forced ED continue diverting a significant portion of their development resources into what is effectively obsolete technology, or would you rather they focused on bringing the next generation of SIMs to market ASAP ?

  6. I can't help but think back to the "olden days" when the S77th server was operational and by far the most popular server on HL. There were no stats and there was rarely an AWACS/EWR. A TS server was available but rarely used by anyone other than S77th. Those of us in the S77th were almost entirely in fighters and to the opposition it may have appeared to be "airquake". But believe me, there was a great deal of coordination and teamwork going on to acheive the goal of air superiority. From wing level up to the overall squadron level. So I guess the bottom line is that it is going to be what you make of it. Shooting down other aircraft is what air superiority fighters do. Calling it airquake because a bomber isn't coming in behind you is often times a misnomer.

  9. I don't think this is totally wrong, but IMO there is no single item that encourages that "I fly for stats" attitude than the existence of server messages. This is why you have people hanging out -far away from the front- picking off landing pilots, etc This is -one of- the reasons certain people fill the air with maddog missiles as a RULE- instead of as a defensive measure, or within another legit circumstance. I think the negative connotations surrounding "Airquake" is mostly B.S. You cannot simply leave a server up and expect that you will always have the proper ratio of ground & air. For those of you that are uncomfortable flying air to air, and think that somehow you've been singled out as a victim of things you can't control? Get over yourself. 1. There are servers that have A2G platforms only. 2. If you enter a server that has say 6 enemy pilots- all in fighters, and your side is a. not in communication or flying as a team in any way b. flying mainly A2G (outnumbered) Common sense should kick right about................. now. "hmm my platform of choice is a literal deathtrap here at this time. I fly it at my own risk. " Don't complain. It was your choice. You could become more proficient on other planes if you wanted to. You could be in a squad, join as a team (even if it's only 2 or 3 of you) and accomplish a lot more. In other words- Admins & mission makers. NOTICE: You cannot make everyone happy all the time. There will ALWAYS be complainers about something. Personally- I hate it when people maddog 100% of the time. I hate server messages. I hate it when people land against traffic, sit on the runway, and generally fly as though NO ONE else is even there. But I deal with it. I cuss & fume to myself- but I deal with it. MANY people who moan non-stop about "airquake" are often hiding behind their fear of head to head competition anyway. "Airquake" is a normal, natural circumstance that is the result of the limitations of the product, and the choices of the individuals that fly it. There are ways to reduce it- to change the focus of the battle, but that is up to the people in there. You cannot have a large combo map, a wide selection of planes, an assortment of people with different attitudes & priorities ,and not have some of it. ahhhh-HOO -ah. TRY to have a nice flight, people. LOMAC's problems PISS me off as much as anyone else. I'm no different. But the online experience is what you make of it. I get tired of airquake myself. So- I fly the T-frog somewhere else. And vice versa. There IS plenty of baseline choice available to everyone. (the different servers) The rest is up to you & me.

  10. Better than demo do public tests for betas and everyone will be happy ^^. Millions of testers for free :D

  11. Not that I wouldn't pay for demo, but I wouldn't buy the game from the company who is charging the demo. Strange thread... It's like go to the cinema and watch trailers for 2 hours, or as you have to pay TV license and watch adds on it...

  13. Oh yes, more AirQuake features! Also what about "unlockable" weapons as your K/D ratio goes up? 10 K/D ratio and you can get AIM-54 on your plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(x1000) Oh wait, what . . . are you telling me this thing was meant to be a realistic simulation? What a pity.

  16. Thanks for the info AirTito - I just assumed that the APU was there to provide electrical power. But just to be clear, if I'm running the APU, and the battery is ON..is there a danger of depleting the battery if I'm running electrical systems at that point (assuming ground power isn't hooked up)? Or can I (if I'm reading Laivynas's post right) also then turn on the onboard generators and have that provide electrical power? No, I haven't mapped the trim to my stick yet. :lookaround: I still haven't sat down and figured up a good profile for my X52..there is so much to learn. I should probably start with the basics like trim and other functions that would actually be on the real stick. I'll ask in the other forum if I can get someone to send me their X52 profile and start from there! Can't wait to try out the autohover..(my shoulders will be happy for that feature!).. :D And you do it spectacularly! I've loved all your videos...and most of the time they leave me scratching my head and asking "How did he do that??!" You manage to find the coolest camera angles and perspectives..great stuff.. BeachAV8R
