  1. Are you saying I have to create the viewports myself in the F18_b_beta.hpf profile that Capt. Zeen created? Or are you asking whether I calculated the positions of the UFC, IFEI, and RWR viewports and updated the lua file? I did the latter. Maybe the coordinates I found when I did a screenshot for those three are wrong? They would have to be very wrong. As for the former, when I open the profile in 'Profile Editor' I see transparency in all the viewport panels. Did you happen to save the image file you used to calculate your X,Y coordinates? It would be really helpful if you could edit it with boxes around the viewports that are working for you and post it here. Here's mine...
  2. I've got the FA-18C_b_beta profile (v1.4.2020.0530) mostly sorted out. The profile loads using OvGME. But I can only see the left and right DDI's (MFD's) and AMPCD (center MFD) in the viewports. The backup RWR, UFC and IFEI displays don't show anything. The ADI, altimeter, airspeed, and VSI all work, and I can click the buttons that control the DDI's, so I know the script is communicating. Any ideas on why those three viewports aren't displaying? The top monitor is the HELIOS panel.
  3. You can use HELIOS. There are several pre-made that already have the MFD's and clickable buttons set up. I've been working on getting my touchscreen finished. I can click on the buttons as well.. Here's a link to a pretty good tutorial on how to install and make it work. I'm having a little difficulty getting the UFC and IFEI to display, but the MFD's work. Here's a pic of my current F-18 monitor setup. The top screen is the HELIOS touchscreen.
  4. I'm bummed. I tried two different days to install DCS, but the server kept reporting that it was 'too busy' after only a partial download. I've got to deliver the system.
  5. What was wrong with it? I tried the URL, and the tiny URL. In another forum I frequent the YouTube tag accepts either. I even tried HTTP instead of HTTPS. What do I need to know? Thanks
  6. Capt. Kristen 'Beo' Wolfe puts the F-35 through a nice routine. The takeoff roll starts at 59:04, but there's some good interviews prior. The Demo team flies out of Hill AFB in Salt Lake City, and is part of the first and to this day only combat F-35 Air Force Wing. Enjoy ${1}
  7. Sadly, I do not have a VR headset. My laptop doesn't have the horsepower. I suppose I could buy one and return it, but I'm afraid that would lead me to spend $$$ on a computer that can run it. :smilewink:
  8. :music_whistling: I'm finishing up a computer build for a video production editing customer. Once it's finished I'm going to 'test' it by installing DCS. Can't wait to see how the game performs compared to my measly laptop. The build: ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe II Intel i9-9940X (Arctic M-4 thermal paste.) Samsung 960 Pro M.2 NVMe 64GB DDR4-4000 nVidia Quadro RTX4000 Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C Chassis (nicest chassis I've built out.) Fractal Design Celsius S36 420mm AIO Liquid Cooling. (CPU is running 32°C at idle.) I'll report back...
  9. I've seen numerous people claim that DCS only uses a single core.
  10. It was pretty clearly implied that you thought your frame rate should be at least 40fps. "7. If your performance with the Supercarrier is smooth, it doesn't mean you are not affected: drops from 70-80 fps to 50-40 aren't always noticeable without using a FPS monitor."
  11. I came here for news about Jester and LANTIRN. I got a question instead. Maybe put a question mark in your title?
  12. Still working on getting Helios right. The Novation Launchpad Mini will eventually get programmed with MIDI key bindings. I'm really new to the MIDI world, but I have the tools - just need to learn the language. The laptop is just...OK for DCS. Dell Inspiron 7577 15" (i7-7700HQ, GTX1060 MaxQ, 16GB RAM, 2x M.2 NVMe (1TB, 512GB.) I'm getting around 50fps in Free Flight with mostly 'Medium' settings. I'm sure it will be less in combat. Hopefully it will be usable.
  13. Needs more RAM. (You can buy it and add it yourself.) 1TB platter drive is slow @ 5400rpm. Not ideal. 1st thing I did with my laptop was upgrade its platter drive to SSD. CPU should be OK. Graphics card is just 'OK'. It has a Type-C 3.1 port, which is nice (but not necessary for DCS.) You'll want to buy a USB3 powered hub. HDMI out is good. Overall, it's a lot like mine. I can't run the game with high performance settings, but it does 'OK.'
  14. I followed all the instructions on your website, right up to the point where I saw your layout on my 10" VGA (800x600) touchscreen monitor. Sadly, I was then forced to spend money to buy a 15.6" 1920x1080 touchscreen to pair with my laptop's 15" main screen, because I realized that to use a profile as beautifully done as yours, I'd need more resolution. Rabbit hole indeed...
  15. Thanks. I'm a simple guy. I need to see the words 'Installer' or 'Application.' When I see "...latest binaries from this fork" I think, "Nah, that won't do at all!" :P I do appreciate the info.
  16. Thanks, but these are developer files. The link to gadrocsworkshop.com no longer works. "This is the source code repository for the Helios Virtual Cockpit System for DCS World. This repository is for core and module developers use. If you are looking for end user downloads and documentation please visit http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com."
  17. I was so looking forward to mapping the complete MFD's (including touch clickable buttons) to my touchscreen. I watched a few Helios tutorials, and was all set to dive in. Alas, it doesn't appear that Helios downloads are available anymore. I searched this forum, and the last mention of Helios was in 2018. Someone also mentioned Ikarus, but the consensus seemed to be that it was orders of magnitude more difficult to use with DCS than Helios. Does anyone have a Helios installer they can share? Will it work with DCS 2.5? I read one comment that said it would. Or should I try Ikarus instead?
  18. It's for video editing, but I'm fantasizing about running DCS on it. $5,740 Alienware Area-51m 9th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-9900K (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0Ghz w/Turbo Boost) Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, English NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2080 8GB GDDR6 (OC Ready) 32GB, 2x16GB, DDR4, 2400MHz 2TB RAID 0 (2x 1TB NVMe M.2 SSDs) + 1TB (+8GB SSHD) Hybrid Drive 17.3" FHD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz, IPS, NVIDIA G-SYNC, Eyesafe® Display Tech + Tobii Eyetracking
  19. Pretty impressive... Check out the landing sequence at 8:30 (I tried to embed the video, but got a playback error.)
  20. GTX1060 w/MaxQ 6GB VRAM (GPU usage 99-100%) Dell Inspiron 7577 Laptop (i7-7700HQ @ 2.8GHz w/16GB RAM) DCS v2.5.6 Instant Action - F/A-18C 'River Run' - Briefing Running Fraps (cool!) I set it to launch when Windows starts and run minimized in the System Tray. Per OP's test settings (High Preset + MSAA 4X - (no vSync was default) - 31fps (OUCH!!) Other settings: Medium Preset + MSAA 4X - (no vSync) - 78fps I tweaked some settings and settled on 75fps [Altered Setting (Medium Preset Default Setting)] 1. Textures = High (Medium) 2. Terrain Textures = Medium (Low) 3. Visible Range = High (Medium) 4. Shadows = Medium (Flat) 5. MSAA = 2X (Off) 6. Global Cockpit Illumination = On (Off) 7. Preload Radius = 100000 (30000) 8. Rain Droplets = On (Off) All other Medium Preset settings unchanged.
