  1. Yep, I went back and re-flew the MAV training mission and started to get the hang of it. Next up is mastering the CDU input so I can start getting the tactical scoop from JTAC. Been watching some good vids on you-tube, something to guide me when I sit down to RTFM. Ripcord
  2. One possible request -- noob here needs a little more guidance on how to shoot that second Mav. Followed directions in the tutorial, acquired first target and fired and scored a hit. But maybe took a little too long and I need to go around or alter my approach. How then to recenter the TGP at the waypoint, in order to find those targets again? Or maybe I need to shift my attention to the next wp? How do move the TGP there, once I already have it set somewhere? I am, of course, taking time to RTFM as I go but it is one big-ass manual, and I find that these instructional videos are really helpful -- maybe there is one out there that addresses this? Ripcord
  3. OK, then it might take you a long time to learn this sim. At least I did not tell you to RTFM. Give me some credit, friend. Ripcord EDIT: If I makes you feel better, I went to EASY radio communications today just to finally master which calls are VHF AM, which are VHF FM, UHF, etc. Decided it would be a useful step as a learning tool.
  4. So learn to key the right radio.
  5. Sure, I agree, but that was the best I could do just to keep it level. Trim should address the turbulence, to some degree, but that wasn't the problem. Fixed the axis settings and got my flight control back. Even managed to land! Thanks again for the good advice, guys. Yeah that AI wingman goes barrelling out ahead. I like to slowly move the throttles forward and focus a little more on keeping the plane going straight. Remember this a runway start in a 4 aircraft flight. When I get my rampstart checklist procedures down a little better, we won't have that issue.
  6. Right you are, sir! That must have been the problem. Flew again like it flew before. Thanks to all those that chimed in to help. This is a damn good forum, and I am certain I'll be back again for more help. RIpcord
  7. Could be, but I did not have this problem when I was using my X-52. And because of this, I have begun to suspect that the new TM Warthog HOTAS is causing the problem. Maybe this dead zone suggestion is the way to go here. I will say that stepping hard on opposite rudder is one of the way I am able to recover from these sudden rolls-overs. Question -- looking now at my option settings. I have saitek rudder pedals and of course the TM WH HOTAS. I have axis x and axis y mapped to the HOTAS, but also assigned to the rudder pedals. Why is that? Maybe that is my problem? I just cleared the X and Y axis (pitch and roll) from the saitek rudder pedals and added in a 10% deadzone for the Z axis. Let me go test this and see if this helps. Ripcord
  8. I flew it again. The EAS Armed switch did appear to be the problem that was causing the warning light, etc. at the start of the mission. But that was not the cause of my flight control issues. The track is painful to watch, partly because I am wrestling constantly with the damn stick the whole way, and partly because my Track IR 5 flipped out for a couple minutes about halfway between wp 1 and wp 2. Then things improved a bit and I was actually able to kick in the autopilot, just briefly. But it would not remain in autopilot, the flight control problems soon return. This cannot be just a function of trimming or not trimming the aircraft. The thing flies like a truckload of bricks. And it did not used to be this way. Between this and the occassional loss of stability with the track IR, this sim is really unplayable. Gotta find what I am doing wrong. Ripcord Ripcord01.trk
  9. OK so here is my situation, starting my mission on the runway. We've decided that the EGI is already aligned in this situation. My problem here is that I my flight controls are completely out of whack once I do get up in the air. Gear retracted, flags retracted, etc. All of a sudden I just start wrestling with the stick to keep it from banking or rolling over, and it is a huge chore to even keep it in the air, and no chance of just flying straight and level. What in the hell can be causing this? :joystick: Now a couple of clues that lead me to believe something is wrong. First is when I start the mission the caution warning light is going off and beeping. Cannot for the life of me figure out what the hell that is. So the plane is trying to tell me I have a problem, I just am not bright enough to understand what that might be. I keep coming back to EAC armed, and that's why I am posting in this thread. I have a TM Warthog HOTAS and it is set up in the sim to sync up at the start of the mission. Should I be starting the mission with the EAC armed? I am going to test that again to see if this is my problem, but I don't think so. If nothing else, I guess it will be a chance save a track to post here and maybe get some help!! Ripcord
  10. If starting a mission on the runway, is it safe to assume your EGI is already aligned?
  11. I was going to suggest that maybe you might need to use the SWITCHED CONDITION type trigger vs the 1 ONCE type that you have use here for your Stop Trucks trigger. Then I read NPD's reply again.... "in my triggers, I have a ONCE (event ON DESTROY), Condition is UNIT DEAD, unit #5, and then Action is FLAG ON, 1." So try that, go in to that trigger and change your NO EVENT to ON DESTROY. See if it make a difference. What makes you think the mission is not working? Are you in fact hearing/seeing that bombs away message? Ripcord
  12. Same guy produced both sims, by the way. Don't think that Matt Wagner hasn't thought about this. Ripcord
  13. Makes perfect sense to me. Maybe place a little additional activity at the FARPs you are tasking, say some ground troops, trucks, etc., to further illustrate the activity/defense associated with those FARPs in use.
  14. Bahger, you could perhaps just blow up the 4 FARPS you don't want to be there -- randomly of course. Use the explosion action in the trigger menu, which would be set to a specific zone over each FARP. All of it would happen right at the start of the mission, while your player is still on the deck, so he woudn't see it actually happen. He might see the black smoke and wreckage though. Heck it might even make for a little bit of extra eye candy and lend something extra to the storyline, I dunno. Might also look hokey as hell, but it is a thought. Ripcord
  15. Now this is a really very informative thread, lots of good gouge here on the AFAC. I will need to remember this one to refer back to. Thanks to all for the good responses. Ripcord
  16. Bahger, how did you resolve the problem to contacting the AFAC on the radio? I am really not understanding that at all -- shouldn't the AFAC come under the JTAC comms menu?
  17. What is the target? As for the advanced menu, not sure I understand the 'auto-generated' part of your post. You mean you have not specified which weapon to drop, you left it set as AUTO in the drop down menu? Is it set up using the bombing command in the advanced menu? Does it look like it shows on page 136 in the GUI manual? Ripcord
  18. A couple of questions and observations -- first off, this thread is very imformative, I've referred to it several times now. Question 1 re AFAC: What about setting a freq? No need to do this? I didn't see that in your A10C AFAC.miz setup. Question 2 re AFAC: Have you had any success using SEARCH THEN ENGAGE TARGETS IN ZONE with the AFAC? Or does we pretty much have to use the FAC - ENGAGE GROUP to make the AFAC work properly? Question 3 re JTAC: Not having much success using just the FAC command, without specifying the target groups. Is this a known issue? I ask because I had built a mission like that, and the JTAC would not respond. So I went through each and every one of the stock missions this morning and noted that each one with a JTAC has specific targets assigned by the JTAC. Going to test the same mission now using assigned targets to see if that makes any difference. Ripcord
  19. This probably needs to be in the mission builders section, but to answer, yes, it is certainly possible, to an extent. You would be able to activate a new identical group, once the units in a partcular group are dead. I do not believe you would be able to regenerate the exact same group in ME -- somebody correct me on this if I am wrong. Ripcord
  20. That was my first thought as well. My second thought was that is why they have the game setting vs the simulation setting. Ripcord
  21. Interesting -- this might be good gouge. Clearly more testing is required. Makes me wonder about this... at what distance can the JTAC operate and point out targets? Do they really have to be right there on the front lines? Can they be 5 miles away on the side of a mountain? Ripcord EDIT: Before some helpful soul gives me the RTFM response, I did look it up and the JTAC should be within 'several kilometers'. I read that to be what, 3-5 klicks? What's the gouge on this, fellow mission builders?
  22. hey, careful there, mate.
  23. "Bort" is a russian term for side number, or board number. I guess the Russian team developing this just began using this term in the ME and continued using it.
  24. Mike, are you saying that you are just unable to pan far enough to the right and left to view the switches? That is my problem right now. Just trying to get that sweet spot dialed in with the TIR, and have not found it yet.
