  1. Have you checked the User Files page for a Profile for your stick and throttle? You can find the page here: Home > User Files I usually try to find one that matches my HOTAS and fly with it a couple times, then I'll make changes that suit me. This helps with learning everything, or almost everything, about your control settings. I did a quick searched for Thrustmaster Warthog and came up with these: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305013/?sphrase_id=4171083 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305012/?sphrase_id=4171083 Not sure if this is yours, but this came up when I searched for X56. Click on the picture: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3309548/?sphrase_id=4171009 F-15 Profiles came up with these: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=70&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=22&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter Other useful information: I have this page bookmarked because it can help you now and in the future: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=42462 And if you want to dive deep into the bowls of your stick and throttle, grab your favorite beverage and go here: RS Mapper And for something a little bit strange but looks interesting: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1428974/?sphrase_id=4171083 Hope this is helpful. Happy flying! Oz :pilotfly:
  2. Man some of you people have issues. Many of the statements I made were in jest. Nowhere in my post do I 'rant and rage' about my experience. I have mearly state my thoughts and experiences, so I'm sorry if my experiences have caused you grief. I don't believe I stated that I was looking for instant gratification. I was explaining some of the reasons people don't stick with DCS, since I've seen that question many places on this forum, and since it is an issue I was just sharing my thoughts. If you could see the total number of total deaths I've accumulated in DCS, you'd probably take this statement back. :) You didn't know this about me but, since you mentioned 'Dangerzone' I thought I'd share it with you; I don't like the Navy and I don't own the F-14 module. But 'Dangerzone' is still a great song! I could go into the economics and physics of how nothing is ever truly 'free' but that would cause this thread "to go off the deep end" based on some of the responses to my post. Did you even read my post? I mentioned a step by step segmented training campaign BECAUSE it is a complex system. I didn't say anything about dummying it down or making it easier. I thought we were discussing the 'tools provided' which are the training missions? umm, I don't think I stated that I was unwilling to put in the effort. You are injecting your own thoughts and ideologies into this post and they are not mine. Again, I'll say this. If you could see the total number of deaths I've accumulated in DCS you would take this statement back. You failed to pick up on the humor of my 'rage quit' statement. I was merely pointing out the fact that I went through the whole start up process successfully but it was in vain because I crashed while taxing - which pretty much nullifies why I started the aircraft up in the first place. I think this is funny, but that's just me. I know it is. I had to do a lot of research into mod management and tried at least 3 of them, until I finally stuck with OvGME. I have it working now and its great, but the reason I even had to go this route was because the user base created training missions that DCS didn't have. Heck, ED made money from this venture because some of the missions were for a map I didn't own! So I purchased a new map to fly the "user created" missions. And I use OvGME to manage those missions! I'm a realist. I'll never ever get a chance to pilot a military aircraft. For two basic reasons: I wear glasses and I'm color-blind. I didn't purchase these modules with the hope of actually flying one someday. I've re-read my post serval times and I can't see where I demanded anything. As a US Marine I understand the nature, use and logic for military acronyms. The acronym statement was meant to be a joke; as seen from a 'new user' point of view. Combat? hehe, I haven't even gotten to that part yet. I'm still trying to make a landing that doesn't result in the loss of several billions of US dollars! Well that's where the marketing department did an awesome job of selling their product. I couldn't pass on a 50% discount per module! Nothing is ever 'free' so if you can get it at half-price, do it. :pilotfly: Your friendly neighborhood, pot-stirring, miss-quoted, over-opinionated, rabble-rousing, American white male. Oz
  3. On the training missions. It would be nice to have the same type of missions available for each aircraft. The F-18 has 20 training missions compared to only 8 for the F-16. A few of the F-18 missions: Air to Air Gun Air to Ground Gun Aim9 Air to Air Aim120 Air to Air Unguided rockets ccip bombing Manual bombing auto bombing high drag bombing canister bombing And the F-16 versions: SMS page and CCIP bombs ccip HD bombs ccrp cluster bombs NO gun or missile missions for the F-16? My take on how the training missions should have been implemented. First off, they should have broken the start-up procedure tutorial into 3-4 different segments. Go through segment one then take off, fly a little and end. Next segment, do segment one again and then add segment two, take off, fly a little and end. Next segment does the first two and adds more controls, fly's a little and then ends. - This keeps the user engaged without putting them to sleep with long paragraphs from acronym hell. - One of the issues I had at first was going through that 20-30 min start up procedure and then getting pissed off because I crashed while taxing to the runway! aaahhhhhhh!! rage quit, go to bed and don't log back in for a day or two. (This is not good for consumer confidence or loyalty by the way.) New users have to learn everything at once! Not only do they have to learn a 20-30 min start-up procedure but they also need to figure out how to use a flight stick a throttle a rudder and IR or VR! I probably left something out too. My point is that a new user has purchased this product to experience flying via a computer simulation. It should be set up to help new users ease into it a little at a time instead of all at once and head first. Heck a whole training campaign could be created following the segment method I outlined above. By the end of a 20 mission training campaign the user would know how the aircraft works and have a sense of accomplishment. With that new found confidence in their flying ability; they would be eager to purchase a campaign or two to test their air-superiority. Final thoughts. If the desired result of a product is to increase revenue along with market share then the product should have features that enhance the user experience, not hinder it. To me, the training mission differential, says that ED has become tired of making them and has become dependent on the user base to create them. That isn't a feature consumers are willing to pay top dollar for. If I had know how painful the training missions are, and how hard adding user created missions, was going to be; I probably wouldn't have purchased the A-10, P-51, F-18 and F-16. I would have just flown the planes in FC3. I spent WAYYY to much time figuring out OvGME, just so I could use some of the missions the user base created. If ED is going to rely on the user base to create missions then they should implement a program like OvGME into DCS. This would make everything so much easier for new users and definitely keep users invested; instead of feeling lost, confused or mad which means that they will be looking into other products. Thanks for reading, Oz forgive my english, english is my first language but I slept through language class because of the acronyms.
  4. I looked at and changed that but because it didn't look like it change much I never logged in and tested it. I just tested it now and it works like I wanted it to. THANKS!
  5. Hello, I've got a question about the Thrust setting for the TWCS Throttle. It defaults to having a forward and back motion. back <-> center <-> forward (-100) <-> 0 <-> (+100) I'd like to get rid of the back motion and have the throttle go from 0-100 0 <-> (+100) As far as I know, none of the DCS aircraft have reverse and so far the throttles I've used behave in the manner of (0 <-> 100). How can I make my throttle work the same way? Thanks for any help you can give.
  6. Hello, I've searched the forum for an answer to this question but can't find it. Is there a way to rearrange the order of the installed module icons along the bottom of the main menu? Do they have a set order or are they set by order of installation?
  7. You know its usually the simplest solution that works. Replacing the battery solved my problem. Since I could see the lights in the open track window I thought everything was operating as it should. But when I installed a new battery I immediately recognized the lights were a lot brighter and didn't disappear when I turned my head. Head-tracking in DCS is working great now! Thanks for your help draconus!
  8. Hey draconus, thanks! I'll try to test it outside DCS. yeah, I have 3 LEDs on the RIGHT side attached to my head-set. Camera is slightly off-center to the right. One of the things that is so frustrating is that sometimes it works great and sometimes it doesn't. Last Tuesday night it worked great, I had no problems or issues with it. The next night when I moved my head the image would bounce around with a jerking motion. It was never centered on the screen and if I used the auto-center keyboard commands it would center the view but that also shuts off the head tracker. In order for the head-tracker to work again I have to ALT-TAB out, stop open-track and start it up twice in order for it to start working in DCS again. To me it seems like something is interfering with the head-tracker. I've even tested it with my ceiling fan on and off. LOL I'm thinking of running the Repair on DCS and re-installing open-track at this point.
  9. Hello, So I jumped into the Flight Sim experience recently and need some help with keeping my head tracker working. I bought the PuckIR from GrassMonkey and it works OK but sometimes it does some weird stuff. I'm not sure if the problem is me, the unit, DCS or all of the them. When I turn the unit on and start openTrack the LEDs are picked up and I can see my head movement in the window. My problem is when I'm in a plane. Here are a few of the problems: 1 - will not do anything. --- I can move my head and see the LEDs moving in the OpenTrack program but nothing happens within DCS. 2 - When I start inside a plane the view snaps all the way in one direction ---- mostly either down or all the way to the right 3 - Auto center keyboard command ---- sometimes when the PuckIR is working good I may need to re-center my view. If I hit my auto-center keyboard command it locks the view looking forward. I can see my head movements in the open track window but nothing moves within DCS. ALT-C to view with the mouse won't even work. ---- I've figured out that if I click out of DCS and back into it a few times it starts tracking my head movement again but by that time, I've been shot down. 4 - Left head movement ---- The LEDs get lost when I move my head to the left ---- I've moved the camera from the center of my monitor all the way to the right and it didn't help My set up. 1 - My room is on the East side of the house and I play in the late afternoon or when its dark outside. There's a heavy dark curtain over the window too. The only light in the room is from a lamp that shines up onto the wall behind my computer. So that should rule out sunlight or direct lighting as a problem. 2 - OpenTrack is open and running on another monitor next to the monitor with DCS on 3 - openTrack running as Admin 4 - DCS running as Admin Questions: 1 - I wear glasses. ---- Would the glare from the computer screens onto my glasses cause a problem? 2 - DCS TrackIR settings ---- under Options should I delete all of the TrackIR settings, since I don't have a TrackIR? 3- I deleted the files in \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\[plane_name]\trackir folders, just in case they were a problem. --- didn't help Thanks for reading and hopefully somebody has ran across this before and has an easy button to fix it. :) Till the next cloud takes you....fly safe, Ozmandi
  10. Finally jumping into the forum pool. Hello, Finally jumping into the forum pool. My first combat flight simulator was Falcon GOLD and then Falcon4. I still have the original software, books and maps from both of those. :) I couldn't afford a nice Joystick or throttle back then so all of my flying was via keyboard and it sucks trying to dogfight with just a keyboard. My interest changed and Falcon was boxed up and shelved. When DCS had the sale back in April I decided to give it a test to see if I wanted to get back into Flight Simulators. Well since then I've purchased a T.16000M FCS FLIGHT PACK, the Puck IR head tracker along with several DCS planes, campaigns and maps. And I've finally had a reason to use the overclocking abilities in my MB and CPU so I'm now running at a stable 4.2GHz on a 9 year old i7-2600K :D My graphics card is 4 years old and its overclocked too. Before overclocking my FPS was between 20 and 60 now my FPS ranges between 80-170 and my system and game runs extremely stable. So, with all of that said I'm looking forward to learning how to land someday. :pilotfly: Thanks! Ozmandi
