nullThe F-4 start-up tutorial in the game had the background sound so loud, I decided to refer to the PDF instead, but I noticed that in the PDF version of the manual, there is no mention of connecting electrical power to the F-4. I still managed to start the F-4 without electrical power, but I was wondering why the two tutorials didn't match. Am I missing something or is this just a missing entry in the PDF version of the startup procedure? I uploaded a portion of the manual that I was referencing.

Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry about taking so long to get back to you guys on this topic as I stopped playing DCS for several months. I no longer use the Tobii Eye tracker and since went back to using TrackIR. You can try limiting the DCS refresh rate to 60 FPS by using the NVIDIA Control panel if you have an NVIDIA card, or just change the Windows display refresh rate to 60 HZ. Note that 60 fps is still good for playing DCS. You can also download the newest version of the Tobii Game Hub which is TobiiGameHub.3.3.0-ci5-Setup.exe. I include an option to have Game Hub use an experimental mode for changing the scanning frame rate. This newest version still did not address the stuttering issue when playing DCS on my PC.- 23 replies

I use the roll and pitch switches behind the two throttles for the buttons that you need to hold until the engines spin up.

Thanks for the info

Is this an F-16 BUG, or am I doing something wrong?
RTS354 replied to RTS354's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
That's that I experienced. After running a test, a second time I realized that what I though was erroneous data on mark point 26 was actually steer point 1. I wonder if this is a bug. -

This is not the issue as I am only using Mavericks, so there is not CCRP, DTOS options. -

RTS354 replied to RTS354's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I think it is an issue with Visual mode where mark points can be selected in visual mode but will not be recognized by the TGP CZ function until you put the Maverick in PRE mode. BUT when but went into PRE mode after creating the first mark point in visual mode, this mark point had erroneous coordinates. -

RTS354 replied to RTS354's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Yes, I am using M-Sel to make the mark point the active steer point. My active steer point is 26. -
When using the Maverick and the TGP in visual mode and then selecting a target, when I create a mark point using the TGP, the coordinates are accepted as mark point 26, but when I switch to PRE mode, and select CZ on the TGP, the TGP points in an erroneous direction. Note that I tried this from a cold start with a STD Heading INS alignment. I’m trying to store the TOO target position as a waypoint using the visual mode of Maverick.

I'm trying to drop CBU 97's from the F-16C and it seems like the wind is blowing the bomblets off target. Is there a way you can program the wind direction and speed into bomb calculation?

Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
After some investigation, it looks like it's the scanning rate of the IR device that is causing the stuttering with Tobii 5. I used an IR camera, and the Tobii 5 has a really slow scanning rate that cannot keep up the 120 FPS that I am getting with DCS, whereas Track IR has an extremely high scanning rate that is above my 120 FPS when playing DCS. I plan on passing this information on to the Tobii 5 developers.- 23 replies

Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I tried the latest version of game hub and still get jerky and stuttering when moving my head. Like I stated in my OP, I get buttery smooth head tracking with Track IR 5, so I know it's not the graphics settings I use in DCS, it's having something to do with the difference in how Tobii and Track IR interface with DCS. Note that FaceTrackNoir is almost as good as track IR when using the Tobii 5 face tracking sensor, but it still has issues with jerkiness when compared to Track IR. Thanks for the info. I'll look into your suggestions.- 23 replies

Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I finally figured out the issue. Under the Tobbi 5 Tracker selection, I had to go into the settings and select the correct hardware ID of the Tobii 5 tracker that I had installed. Apparently, my computer had two different USB ID's for the same Tobii 5 tracker. I uploaded a screen shot of what I am talking about. I tried your settings, and they need some tuning on my computer. I'm still getting severe stuttering when I look in the cockpit, but the outside doesn't stutter as much as when using the Tobii game hub. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.- 23 replies

How to configure the off to idle function for the Thrustmaster Viper TQS?
RTS354 replied to RTS354's topic in Thrustmaster
The throttle moves into idle, but the engine won't spin up pass 20. When I assign two other buttons on the throttle for OFF and IDLE, they work, but not the "Throttle off <hold> IDLE" setting. OK, I had to restart DCS to make it work. I never had to restart DCS before when binding controller buttons. This may be an issue with how ThrustMaster handles virtual buttons. Thanks for the help. -
How to configure the off to idle function for the Thrustmaster Viper TQS?
RTS354 replied to RTS354's topic in Thrustmaster
That didn't work. I selected the blank box and moved the throttle to off which selected button 18 on the throttle which is correct when in the cutoff position. -
Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I tried to setup the Tobii 5 with the FacetrackNoir, and it doesn't work. I uploaded a screen shot and you can see that there are no numbers in the RAW input section. You have any suggestions? I followed your instructions to the letter.- 23 replies

Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had no issues fixing the up and down movement, but the side-to-side movement was so jerky, that I could not track aircraft when in a merge. I tried to make a video, but the jerkiness doesn't show up in the video, so, I believe it's a real-time lag issue with DCS. How smooth is you side to side movement? thanks for the reply.- 23 replies

I recently purchased the Thrustmaster Viper TQS, and I cannot get the off to idle function to work. There is no physical l button for the idle function, just a physical button for the off position. So, I have to move the throttle from the off to idle to off to idle to get the F-16 engine to spin up. I tried using the target software, but I saw no options in the software to do this. Has anyone figured out how to get this throttle to work correctly?

How to get a smooth tobii experience?
RTS354 replied to algherghezghez's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I tried RaptorAttacker's solution, and I still get jerky movement using the same DCS graphics settings that I used with my Track IR. Note that movement with track IR is buttery smooth so, It's not that an issue with the graphics. -
Tobii Eyetracker 5 - Micro stutters
RTS354 replied to Jamie_G's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm having the same issue. I'm tried using the official "DCS_6DOF.ghubprofile" profile file for DCS and I still get stuttering when moving my head. Note that I get extremely smooth tracking with track IR with the same DCS graphical settings. DCS_6DOF.ghubprofile- 23 replies

On several of the multiplayer servers that I played, the JTAC is not in the same grid zone designator as the player. The JTAC is also hidden on the map and there is no briefing info as to where the JTAC is. The only info I got was the JTAC's radio frequency. THe 9-line only includes the 100,000-meter square identifier and the numerical location. It would be nice if the JTAC included the grid zone designator in the 9-line.
-
I have had several issues where the JTAC is in a different grid zone designator square, than I am in. I have no clue other than the radio frequency of the JTAC. So when I call the JTAC,, he gives me the 100,000-meter square identifier and the numerical location, but not the grid zone designator. How do you determine the grid zone designator square of the JTAC without knowing his location on the map? I'm using the terminology of the MGR coordinates as such: An example of an MGRS coordinate, or grid reference, would be 4QFJ12345678, which consists of three parts: 4Q (grid zone designator, GZD) FJ (the 100,000-meter square identifier) 1234 5678 (numerical location; easting is 1234 and northing is 5678, in this case specifying a location with 10 m resolution)
-
I'll run the mission again, but I was using the precise mode, but I didn't add the zero at the end. Once I did this everything worked. I'm still having an issue with the F-16 because it starts off with the wrong grid square, so I have to locate the JTAC on the map and write down the correct grid square before contacting the JTAC. Another issue that I have is that the JTAC doesn't give you the grid square, and if you don't know where the JTAC, the JTAC coordinates are useless.
-
Thanks for the solution for the second part, but have you had the same problem with I had with the JTAC giving the wrong MGR coordinates?
-
I created a practice mission to allow me to practice various mission types, but I have an issue in that the JTAC doesn't give me the correct MGR coordinates. I also have an issues where the refueling pilot will communicate with the F-18, but not the F-16, although I can hear the refueling pilot on the F-16 radio. I uploaded the mission file if anyone want to figure out what is going on. Note that I am using the MT.exe version of DCS. Multi-Practice.miz
