I've recently started bouncing back and forth between multiplayer and single player and the radar is by FAR more reliable in single player. I think multiplayer has a huge sync problem and this screws with the AWG9 simulation. In multiplayer even with an STT lock its basically impossible to hold the lock long enough to get a phoenix to hit from almost any range outside of 20nm even if you fly low enough below the target to have the filter automatically turned off, it just randomly loses the lock and will immediately show up again when Jester goes back to TWS.

I wonder too how much things changed in the real aircraft with software updates. Now I know computers back when these planes first came out where verrry primitive, but is it possible they could have updated and changed track correlation logic throughout the life of the aircraft that could better reestablish trackfiles?
-
I bet is more likely that we don't see the trackfile lost until it's already been awhile since the radar picked it up so the trackfile lost indication on the TID would show after 8 or so seconds of no return as opposed to the first time the radar didn't pick it up on a sweep.
-
Off the top of my head, I believe a trackfile is lost after no return for 8 seconds. What I've always found strange is how easily trackfiles are lost against non maneuvering/ non-notching aircraft. Seems like a trackfile will be lost momentarily only to have the target reappear right on top of the lost track instantaneously. I mostly play online so a lot of the issue could stem from the ever present desync problems in large dynamic servers. I know its old tech and its most likely "just how it was" but man its annoying trying to actually pull off a six shooter. Doesn't help either that the omniscient AI scatters (even though they'd have zero RWR indication of a missile launch) the second you Fox 3 in TWS making you lose all of your trackfiles.

Disregard, its a known issue. Sorry for duplicate post. I can't use Jester via the radial menu to set the home base waypoint VIA the F10 map without it causing a crash to desktop every single time I try. It only happens immediately when I click the Home Base radial, instant CTD. For the record: I'm running a clean install (no mods) I've ran a repair I've deleted FXO and metashaders folders and the mission editor folder I've been trying on TTI multiplayer maps, I have not tested in single player to isolate if this this a MP only problem. Edit: After further testing is appears to be a multiplayer problem. I tried it on a couple SP missions with no issue, but in MP I always get the crash. I don't know if it has something to do with the large amount F10 marks on the maps in the large dynamic MP servers but I never had this issue prior to the 2.7 update that I can recall.

yeah, my sceens are so dim now I barely even read them.

Thanks Cobra, I didn’t even know that the Viggen didn’t have PBR! Excited to see how it turns out!
-
Cool, happy to see its on the list. Sad to see it’s been years since the last update on it. Missed the part where Iron Mike said it would be out hopefully before April! Awesome. I have faith in heatblur though. Love the team.

Some one recently made a mod for the Harrier to give the harrier a more matte and less glossy look. I’d love to see something similar to the Viggen as sometimes it can look too shiny and flat. Here’s the Reddit post. Would it be possible to get something like this for the Viggen?

Has there been any updates on this front? I'd like to see something to. The visual feed back of it actually working adds immersion to what you are doing. Sorry for necroing an old post.

I've noticed a couple times that when I drop the glide bombs, they accelerate to like 650 knots at very low altitudes after being dropped around 350 knots. This seems rather odd to me. Maybe its normal, but it doesn't make sense for a glide bomb to break the sound barrier without propulsion to push through the transonic drag region. I don' currently have a track, I usually just play MP.

Hey all, I currently have a warthog hotas, but it doesn't feel very good to use with rotorcraft. The tendency for the warthog grip to want to stay centered (not sure what the technical term is) just makes it feel bad to make small adjustments. Almost like there's a center detent. I'm guessing an extension would help with this somewhat. Anything else I could do besides buying a new base? If not, what are some good bases for flying helos?

I've actually found in the F14B the targets NEVER correlate perfectly while they do in the F14A regardless of a good INS alignment. I'll see if I can reproduce it.

I was trying to drop GBU12/54s in CCRP and when I'd select CCRP Master Mode I'd get the bomb fall line for the GBU-12 for about 1-2 seconds before it would show up as CCRP Invalid. It would also show up for the GBU54 but still gives me a launch region and I could still release one. Just before using the GBUs, I was trying to use the APKWS rockets in CCRP and it would do the same thing and give me CCRP Invalid after a 1-2 seconds. My TGP is set as SPI and I would be within 15nm of the target. Not sure what's going on here.

Maybe the black shark 3 will have full integration being a newer model. Speaking of, when are we sopped to get that?
-
Thanks. I was afraid of that... kinda crazy they wouldn’t make them communicate with each other in the real aircraft.

I’m trying to change my waypoint to fly to a different point other than my initial starting point but I can’t select anything other than WP1. I’m using a custom drawn flight plan that I make on the ABRIS, but it seems like non of the waypoints I create are selectable on the PVI-800. Do only waypoints set in the mission editor work?
-
Should it be different? Do the f14 and f18 fly different approach angles? I would assume they would due to different lengths between the pilots sight picture and the arresting hook.
-
Does the IFOLS approach angle change between the hornet and tomcat? I followed a near perfectly centered ball all the way to the deck without changing rate of descent at all and hit the one wire... I was in the A and the carrier was treating me like a hornet.

AIM-54 Changes / new API fixes are live in today's patch
Hawkeye91 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah, did the API changes make it into the patch this time or did ED forget to flip the switch again? -
I've never tested solid numbers, but I almost never hold the track once the AI starts chaffing and the TWS will track the chaff and lose the target. I sometimes score hits but I believe its because of the missile going active even though it shouldn't after losing its target due to the API being on ED's side of the things.
