  1. I can understand the upset of customers who paid for Flaming Cliffs and could'nt access the download but the way in which some people spout their vitriol is unacceptable and sometimes I wonder if some of them are truly customers at all or just oppurtunists who enjoy another particular sim and take the oppurtunity to put down Lock On. It's not like ED would purposely take down their site, as I have experienced only recently its a pain when a server goes down and you have to move an entire site. I don't know why anyone would get banned for a signature, when I first posted mine I got a polite request from a moderator here to remove it as at that time sig images were not allowed, I did'nt know that, I apologised and removed it. I can wait for Black Shark, its not going to transform my life so when its ready it will be released and I'll buy it. ED is one of the few true sim developers left, I've enjoyed all their sims to date and hope it will continue.
  2. I still have my Flanker 1, Flanker 1.5 and Flanker 2 discs. If I recall correctly Flanker 1 was the first Win95 only game I owned. I don't seem to remember it comparing badly graphically to other jet sims of that era and it was certainly one of the better sims for the feeling of flying even back then. The mission disk which was then later bundled as the 'Commanders Edition' with the original game brought it up to v1.5 I think it also added new shading techniques back then to improve the 'smooth' look of the 3d models, all that before the fancy 3d accelerators such as the Voodoo and later the TNT cards.
  3. Sorry I missed your post konkussion I've been a bit tied up with the CH Hangar moving server but I see you've signed up there now <S>
  4. Yoda was just out of camera shot
  5. I have it installed though don't use it all that often. I use it mainly for finding IL-2 servers as I don't like Hyperlobby that much. If it supported more sims i.e server browsing rather than just launching the game I'd probably use it more often but they are more interested in supporting FPS games. One update a few months back added support for a demo released years ago when there were a number of threads requesting support for racing sims like rFactor that went ignored. Finally they added rFactor support in the latest patch but no server browsing just game launch.
  6. Not done a lot of gaming so far, been testing a few things on it. As its Vista RC1 I'll probably wait until I have the rig running with all the drivers I need and be sure its running well before springing for the retail release of Vista Ultimate 64 Bit. Driver support has improved a great deal though in a few short months and if you have a 64 bit CPU why not use a 64 Bit OS. There are only a few games taking advantage of it now but 64 Bit will become the standard just as 32 Bit computing did before it.
  7. I have the Vista 64 Bit RC1 on a spare HDD for testing purposes and I use Avast! I always shyed away from free AV software and used Norton but realised what a resource hog it was and how inept it was at catching viruses so I tried Avast! and was surprised how well it worked out for me. My girlfriends PC was infected with a virus that Norton missed, Avast picked it up straight away upon install. IIRC in a review I read comparing AV software Avast and a few other free AV progs update themselves far more frequently than McAfee or Norton.
  8. I've always found Simware to be priced reasonably and their customer support is very good.
  9. I don't think you should have a problem with the Fighterstick if you have big hands. As Ruggbutt said you can find a variety of profiles here in the jet sim profiles forum at the CH Hangar. If you see a profile that includes a device you don't have you can still download it, load it into the Control Manager software and hit the delete button. Likewise if you have a nice profile setup then buy a new device to add to your HOTAS (say the multi function Panel for instance) you can just load up your regular profile and add the MFP to it with the click of a mouse button.
  10. I've used a Cougar and and was let down, I've now used a CH Products HOTAS for the last three years and I'm very happy with it
  11. Nice little program you have there Vosxod, I'm sure those who have sticks that don't offer multiple modes can make good use of it. I use a CH HOTAS though and have 4 modes and shifted functions available to me but good luck with your project <S>
  12. I'm hooked on rFactor. I've also got Live For Speed, netKar Pro, GTR and GT Legends but for me rFactor is what I play most for its array of excellent mods from Renault Megane's, Porsche GT3's, Aussie V8's, F1 2006, F1 1979 to name but a few which are freely downloadable from rFactor Central along with a load of add-on tracks too from well know international circuits to smaller club circuits as well as a few fantasy tracks.
  13. Some sort of MFD device came a close second to an F18 throttle or stick in a poll ran at the CH Hangar, the MFD option even led the others at one point so there is demand out there. Its high unlikely that this will be the last device CH will ever produce. This is hardly more of the same, I think you're exagerating just a little.
  14. I've posted news about the price and where to find new hi-res images of the MFP in this thread.
  15. CH are now taking pre-orders for the MFP, if you'd like to see some more pictures of it I have some new hi-res pictures of the MFP here at the CH Hangar.
  16. They are keys like a keyboard key but perhaps other things may be developed who knows
  17. I think I'm going to have to grab your profile later for a little cut 'n' paste session :D
  18. Where were you last week :D Estimated price $180-$200 with the option to buy additional sets of keys in quantaties of 25 and also spare trays should you wish to have a tray of keys kept setup for a specific sim whilst giving yourself an extra tray and keys to arrange in alternative layouts. This is a collaboration with Ergodex to develop their DX1 board further and make the CH Multi function Panel (MFP) not only compatible with the Control Manager software but also give the ability to connect more than one MFP - 16 in total should you want to giving 12,800 possible button positions (might be handy for the Black Shark pit ;) ) Any CH owner will likely already know the awesome levels of programmabilty on offer by the software, for example keys can be programmed to emulate: Keystrokes Joystick buttons Mouse buttons Joystick axis Mouse axis Of course with CMS scripting you can really go to town with your profile programming, perhaps set a key to switch through MFD modes in your sim whilst having the buttons setout on your MFP also cycle through the various MFD mode commands or perhaps program a fail safe key so you can't eject or fire a missile until a certain group of keys has been activated. You can also manipulate the mouse cursor by settings screen co-ords to a key and then when you press it the mouse cursor jumps to that location, handy for inflight comms navigation or for using the map as I do in IL-2. I had a look at one of the DX1's which Michael Sexton used at CH Products booth at E3. Moving a key is simply a matter of twisting it off the board and repositioning it but unless you twist the key in a certain way it sticks to the board and will not budge! If the bottom of the button becomes dirty you simply wipe it with a damp cloth and its good as new, quite how its done I don't know as it was technology developed by Ergodex but the panel and the keys are smooth to the touch. The layout pictured in the CH Products press release was created by Michael at CH Products to use in IL-2 which they ran in their cockpits at this years E3. The compass and ADI are static images. He also had a setup for F4:AF which used static images of a radar screen and it looked so lifelike that people who tried jumped in the cockpit at E3 asked if the radar actually worked :)
  19. CH Products has announced that their next product will be the 'Multi Function Panel'. Its a combination of Ergodex's 'active surface' technology and the Control Manager software. Previously only one Ergodex board could be used on a PC but with the Control Manager software it is now possible to connect up to 16 which will give you a possible 12,800 button positions with modes and shifted modes. Below is an example of a layout Michael Sexton of CH Products produced: Its scheduled for release at Christmas. You can read more here
  20. CH Products has released a new version of their Control Manager software which nows supports Windows 32 and 64 Bit. There is no need to delete any previous installs of v4.0 as this will automatically detect and update it but installations of older versions of Control Manager will need to be uninstalled first. As I said version 4.10 now supports Windows XP 32 bit and 64 bit and fixes a few issues from the previous version such as the CPU usage and list command issue. You can download the new version from CH Products Control Manager page here or from their public FTP linked below: 32 Bit control Manager (.zip) 64 Bit control Manager (.zip) 32 Bit control Manager (.exe) 64 Bit control Manager (.exe) The CH Hangar also has mirrors for these files: 32 Bit Control Manager 64 Bit Control Manager
  21. Its available here at The CH Hangar.
  22. 1 Mode - I'm getting old and can't remember all three modes
  23. It sounds like you have two axis set to do the same control fuction, you need to go into the axis mapping in Lock On and seelct each device in the drop down menu and de-select all the axis that get automatically set by Lock On and re-map them.
  24. Thats the trouble with replica sticks, the F16 HOTAS was designed to have the stick and throttle mounted low alongside the pilot so when you sit in the cockpit of course you can reach it all and you would if you placed the Fighterstick or Cougar in that position but up on your desk with your wrist angled like it is in the pictures its not hard to understand why you can't reach the POV. All it takes is for the user to either raise their seat or lower the stick position - I have mine mounted on a speaker stand so I can stand it next to my computer desk when not in use and move it so it sits between my legs to fly.
  25. I've not noticed any problems and I use Win XP 64Bit
