I spent many happy hours in DI's Tornado and its Desert Storm expansion, fantastic sim and great manual. The graphics may not look great but using the terrain following computer system to hug the hill tops was a real buzz. One of my favourite aircraft for its multi-role capability. If ED said they were considering it I'd be happy to pay the full retail price up front and then pay the same amount on delivery to get this aircraft in a modern simulation. I think ED are the only company that could do it justice.

Simware had a date of the 25th of May, I'm holding on for the DVD version because I have everything from ED since the original Flanker all on CD/DVD and on my shelf so I'd like to add FC2 to that :)

Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Revvin replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well said -
Foxy is a nice app but its not really much of a GUI and not that user friendly. Foxy has far too many windows, buttons and other things cluttering things up. Every other manufacturer such as CH Products, Logitech and Saitek offer a more graphic straight forward GUI depicting the product you are using and CH Products Control Manager proves you can have that GUI and still perform very complex scripting some of which even the Cougar is not capable of. A lot of users are happy with that as like me they used to program Thrustmaster gear in DOS but times have moved on. You can keep the complexity of Foxy as it is now but make the interface a lot more simple for beginners to use and just for every day programming where you may only need to map a single keystroke.

Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Revvin replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Its a shame the people who design and build their wheels don't design and built the joysticks as I've always found their wheels to be pretty bullet proof. I've never had one die on me yet over a number of generations of their wheels. Each time I upgrade its because they have designed a better wheel not because the other has broken. My old Logitech wheels are still working well on mates machines. -
Thrustmaster Cougar questions
Revvin replied to ScEBlack1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The stick generally stays wherever you place it, its rather heavy. I think it might take you a little while to get used to the heavily text based profile editor over the GUI that ships with mosts sticks these days though the tutorials are good enough to help you create a profile from scratch. I'd agree with the other posters that new gimbals are a good idea but it depends on how much a new set of gimbals and hall sensors cost plus the price of the Cougar compared to what the HOTAS Warthog will cost when it arrives in the Spring, how much do the gimbals and halls cost these days? -
Thats the one, though mine was plain black with a red handle, it didn't have any of those labels on it. Yeah I was heavily into Geoff Crammonds F1 GP and Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge and also loved Stunt Car Racer. I was also into my sims back then, Microprose's Gunship on the ZX Specturm, F19 Stealth Fighter and then games like Knights of the Sky on the Amiga. Anyway sorry Coolts I've taken this off topic.

In this compensation cultre you'd have someone with an intolerance to rubber taking legal action because there was not a huge warning on each sucker warning them not to lick it :) The old Kempston sticks were pretty hard to beat on the ZX Spectrum, I had one stick I really liked, it had a kind of pistol grip under a square-ish base with a small stick on top of that. LOL while searching for a picture of that joystick I also found my first set of pedals!
-
Does the Cougar still ship with the speedbrake misaligned? I thought they fixed it?
-
A good controller set up makes simming all that more enjoyable, you should think about replacing those pedals with some proper flight sim pedals for a little more added immersion.

Is CH Products still "good"?
Revvin replied to Valthonis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The Flightstick Pro could be used by left or right handed users so yes it could be used for that purpose if the game allows it. -

Is CH Products still "good"?
Revvin replied to Valthonis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No they are terrible! stay away! stay away!....ok just kidding. CH Products are still and always have been not 'good' but 'great' in my opinion. I'm around 6'3" or so and a size 11 and the pedals are just fine for me. My feet are long enough so I can just bend my toes over the top edge of the pedal while the heel sits snuggly at the bottom in the heel rest. I find the pedals a comfortable size and distance apart to use even on long flights. For a jet sim like Lock On or an advanced heli sim like BlackShark I might suggest the Fighterstick over the Combatstick as you'll gain 2 extra 4 way hat switches which will certainly come in handy. The Pro Throttle is a good choice and of course both are backed up by the Control Manager software which has no equal - in my opinion of course, all information is provided 'as is' with no guarantee of completeness, accuracy, timeliness or of the results obtained from the use of this information...phew there just got the legal mumbo jumbo in incase any armchair lawyers for other joystick manufacturers are watching :) -

Anyone notice Saitek x52 pro in movie?

So is this a very good bit of marketing by Saitek to get product placement or Hollywood buying them because they are cheap? :) -
CH Fighterstick => Recognise 8way POV as Axis ?
Revvin replied to GuntiNDDS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That could be any axis really not just the mouse, assign it to a a different joystick axis other than the X/Y and Z axis already on the Fighterstick. -
CH Fighterstick => Recognise 8way POV as Axis ?
Revvin replied to GuntiNDDS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can't select it as an axis as by default the POV hat is a cluster of buttons essentially. However with a little CMS scripting you can have the POV hat control the mouse cursor. A member at the CH Hangar posted this script: timer( interval, d1, 1, 1 ) = CMS.b49; cms.b1 = d1; IF( JS1.B25 OR JS1.B26 OR JS1.B27 OR JS1.B28 OR JS1.B29 OR JS1.B30 OR JS1.B31 OR JS1.B32 ) THEN XRELATIVE = FALSE; YRELATIVE = FALSE; CMS.B49 = TRUE; //Turns on Mouse look ELSE CMS.B49 = FALSE; //Turns on Mouse look CMS.A1 = 128; CMS.A2 = 128; ENDIF IF( NOT XRELATIVE ) THEN cms.a1 = 128; cms.a2 = 128; IF( js1.b32 or js1.b25 or js1.b26 ) THEN cms.a2 = 72; ENDIF IF( js1.b26 or js1.b27 or js1.b28 ) THEN cms.a1 = 184; ENDIF IF( js1.b28 or js1.b29 or js1.b30 ) THEN cms.a2 = 184; ENDIF IF( js1.b30 or js1.b31 or js1.b32 ) THEN cms.a1 = 72; ENDIF ENDIF Cut and paste that into the 'CM Editor' in Control Manager and then on the 'CMS Controls' tab set the axis A1 and A2 to act as the mouse X and Y axis. Download the script and you're done. Thanks to Chris0381 for posting his script there. -

I just thought they might have been stock X-52's as they still had the springs around the bottom. -

That is dirt cheap if you'll pardon the pun. Shame my rig won't run it very well but I have it for the XBOX 360 and its good fun.
