  1. I personally would like to see early and late (current) version, early with flat canopy/revi sight and possibly without MW/50. No FM changes necessary.
Well, no MW50 is a FM change, and IIRC there was a different, less powerful, but still there form of military power. Sadly, that's a change.

What do you mean? Yes, I know that interview. Anyway, he's a pilot and still speaking by ear about models he hasn't possibly flown because they don't exist any more (109F), and models he hasn't flown at all (Spit V). You don't need to be a pilot to speak by ear “because I read somewhere”, and this forums are the proof of that .

Anyway, can you explain me how is that related to energy management, and combat tactics? Oh wait, you just want to turn like the video says, so still my point :smilewink:.

  3. You know what? It turns out just googling a bit there is a small place where you can park your aeroplane when you visit Mina.

Exactly here, (and this is realism, having the possibility to use google maps/Earth and everything you have in module is there :D)

It's a small wide in the runway, although clearly not a part of the runway itself but parking.

Whatever, well, probably as there is no apron and that's the first time it happens in DCS, may be ED just hadn't a idea yet on how to handle this, since you can't start jets at the countryside . Makes sense you have to start in the paved (¿?) runway. But yes, it would be fine once we have dirt airports this is converted to the real dirt airport it is IRL, and we have our small, tiny, ridiculous, ""apron"" (even though calling that apron is fairly optimistic :P) to start, or just some parking spots besides runway at least.

  4. Not every new airfield in NTTR got ATC frequencies, yet - so still work in progress!
Anyway I don't think every airport should have an ATC frequency since some of them are really small GA airports without a proper control tower. You know, 123.5 is the universal uncontrolled airport frequency to talk to aether if you like to, but I'm not sure ED has to set those linked to airports since no ATC will answer at all.

  5. Hi zerO_crash,

i needed 2 weeks to get the 190 in the air and back on the ground, the 109

was finished in one flight. You need mutch more stick imput and corrections for the 190, the 109 is easy to hold at the glidepath no big corrections are needed.

From what i have read the 109 is a beast at landing and start, the 190 not. But when i compare both planes in DCS, its harder to get the 190 straight airborn and back on the ground.

    regards

    Little_D

So, 109 was easier after you learnt first with 190… That's not 109 being easier, it's the logic consequence of you learning .

  6. Try manual prop pitch and cruise at 1.15 ATA for 2000RPM, or 1.35 ATA for 2400 RPM. Perhaps placebo but to me it eases up on the necessary trim
Not at all, you made a point. The issue with pitch up tendency is related to engine torque, hence using a proper engine settings/cruise speed really helps in tackling with it.

  7. I thought it was reduce the problems with guns freezing/jamming.
Yes, there are some different explains on the canvas patches but I also thought it was related to guns freezing.

I used to fly a little Cessna 152, it had a bird strike on the port wing about 2/3rds of the way along it on the leading edge, I flew the aircraft like that and you could really feel the difference from before the bird strike.

After the wing was repaired you could see a barely perceptible ripple if the light was in the right direction, to run your hand over it you would not feel it. Still, after that the flying characteristics of the aircraft were different than before the bird strike happened, in the stall that wing would drop well before the starboard one and it took full right rudder to keep her level, if not she would snap into a spin.

So from an aircraft that is known for it's docile handling acting like that, with a performance machine like a Spitfire I would think it would make a noticeable difference to her flying characteristics in some way.

I know what you mean. I got my licence in a C152, she had a twin in the aero club, but the one I flew was always the best one, the one flying really better, and you could easily tell the difference, two aircraft being the very same exact model and in same maintenance conditions (even same paint job). Obviously those differences comes from tiny details we don't even notice, and yes they influence the flight. I'm sure those gun holes in the leading edge has an influence, but they were the same in both wings so whatever it was it affected the same both wings. I don't think it was so dramatic, specially bearing in mind some warbirds today fly without canvas and miraculously nothing happens, not to mention canvas doesn't follow leading edge 100% to match wing profile at all, on the contrary usually canvas is hollowed towards the gun hole and is somewhat flexible. Have those holes some influence in aerodynamics? Sure, even a bird excrement on your leading edge has, but was that influence so dramatic over the flight nor wasn't engineers aware of that when they designed the Spitfire so they could get rid of it provided it was a so great handicap in combat? I don't think so.

  8. Check you don't have auto rudder switched on. It is not like she is impossible to tame, but yes, definitely way harder to taxi and handle on ground than 190 due to narrow gear legs.

Anyway if you can control her so good and everything is correct, good for you, you have already walked a lot of the path.

  9. I am sure too that after firing the guns, the interceptor variants would have a reduction in range. Once the canvas patches were shot away, there must have been considerably more parasitic drag.
Some lift can be lost after firing since gun holes breaks the leading edge, I guess it should be like ice pellets sticking to your leading edge in freezing conditions, but "considerably" more parasitic drag? I hardly think so, a bit may be.

  10. So well explained mate   .

May be one day some 109 fanboys understand that kind of things, but today is not the day .

I already felt like having a go on DCS level P-47, but your speech made me remember why and now I what it eagerly :megalol:.

  11. Sometimes you need to flick the pedals more than once to register in dcs...

Sent from my SM-T231 using Tapatalk

Not only with CH pedals, since a few updates when I need to change some setting it's like DCS configuration (but only configuration, as in game everything works fine) doesn't "see" the controls now and then, you have to push a button many times until it gets the correct one, same for axis.

  14. So what do i wrong?
Nothing at all, just you have to learn to walk before learning to run :smilewink:.

First of all, have you uncaged the sight's gyro before trying to use the predictive feature? Looks like you want it to predict a thing while caged, that's not gonna happen .

Also, IIRC German EZ42 have a configuration for target range. It's a bit tricky to set as it's a little hidden in aft right panel (not very much intended for a combat use), but of course sight prediction depends not only on target wingspan but also on its speed. It's set by default for an average target speed, probably 300Km/h but I don't recall the exact data. The sight can be a bit off because of that, depending on what are you shooting at. Personally I don't like the predictive sight so I just fire eyeballing with the fixed sight. Either if you don't uncage the sight, so gyro isn't working, or you don't configure properly the predictive feature your fire will go behind target, that's physics.

Also when right behind the target if you aim directly to the enemy your fire will always go above the target, as guns are harmonized for a distance (your 600m) and that's including bullets fall with time so bullets need to go up first. The closer you are to the target the higher your bullets are gonna travel. The sight, even a predictive one, aren't a magical piece of hardware and the pilot has to work to hit the target.

  15. Let's give a try,

    1. will we someday get lost of this unrealistic soundradar? I mean i can here

red/blue planes way out of there gunrange behind or even under me on

the deck, when i am at 3000m.

I can't heard any other aircraft inside my cockpit with engine running unless they are really close (UH taking off and flying close to you in Bf109 cold start quick mission, for instance). Have you checked in latest 1.5.5 version? Something changed regarding sound. And check you audio config, you can delete your saved games file and let a new one appear (keep your controls profiles).

    2. will we get someday historical tracer for the german planes?

I nerver heared or read about green tracer for the MG`s and red tracer

for the 20mm in german planes. yellow and withe tracers where used from

german dayfighters, only the nightfighters used red tracers as far i

    remember.

AFAIK German cannon tracer rounds were blue at best, if not just white. Time ago info was requested but not much appeared, so I think most of it relies in Erich Brunotte interview information (Luftwaffe veteran) and IIRC he said they were just white. Don't look at other games out there to compare, most of them lack any research. I don't remember any red tracer, have you calibrated your screen?

    3. will it be possible some day, that the player can select online the squad he whants

to fly for and also the planenumber he whant to use, like in old IL-2 1946 or even Cliffs of Dover?

If you make a mission you can set many different attributes to aeroplanes. A feature like old Il-2, I don't think anytime soon if ever. Anyway, IIRC last time I flew I couldn't see my own aeroplane in cockpit .

  16. I was able to get it started after applying ground power. I noticed that when I turned on the instrument lights, they flickered until the GPU was attached. Once electricity was flowing, it started up as normal. May be a decent work-around for some people until it's fixed.
That's normal and realistic. Generator doesn't make output enough until 1600rpm IIRC, you can dry the battery indeed with the engine running at idle. Easily checked as cockpit lights glare regularly when generator is working at the required load (hence they flicker when not). Everything is stated in the manual.
