Just tried and got 346kts TAS @ 21 500', that's 398mph. (screenshot before reaching max)

Question: which max speed table do you all refer to?

low fuel (<50%), auto lean, 2 700 rpm. 63 in Hg pressure. (Still no clue about water injection button)

I don't see it in the screenshot, but, are you flying on an ISA conditions atmosphere? otherwise you'll never get the listed TAS.

Remember, all your tests should be performed on international standard atmospheric conditions (ISA), meaning T=15º C, Pressure = 1013'25mb , otherwise numbers won't ever match.

O.K. You ask for it… Let me give you the final blow. Have a look at the enclosed images.

A pristine, clean corsair livery, fresh from the factory. This livery has been provided NOT by me,

but from Magnitude 3 themselves, very well known for their accuracy. This completely contradicts

your fantastical assertions in your post from last Monday….

😂😂 I didn't ask for anything. And my "fantastical assertions", as you saw yourself… , are just based on actual period pictures. Let me show you one more, a Navy training film, pretty low quality and still you can see scratches all over the control panel, around instruments, chipped levers, and all 😁

To be fair, you're the one who's trying (quite arrogantly I might add) to convince them that what they like is wrong.

Then again, sorry I have to correct you on this. You mean quite autistically literal but you've already attributed intentions and feelings, like arrogance, you didn't know 😉 .

Now.. why do you think that there is an option on offer in the A-10 to choose between an “aged” and a “factory new” If there was no interest in the DCS community towards a “factory new” cockpit

Hahaha, I don't know for how long have you been around here, but I don't "think", I do KNOW as a matter of fact WHY is there that option, and that's only because some unacknowledged about aeroplanes and aviation people here is these very same forums asked, or should I say demanded, those "alleged factory fresh cockpits" because they didn't "LIKE" it. And I do know because back in time when that happened I was in those discussion and many others about the same tiresome subject 😂 😂 😂. Still stand on my point,

"you might like or dislike it but that doesn't make it more realistic as many, and you, say it is just because they haven't the experience of the actual filthiness an aeroplane constantly grows"

Just a hint, aeroplanes gross weight is never the one said at factory, in their airworthiness certificate it must be updated every now and then because aeroplanes gain weight!! Do you wonder why an aeroplane actually gains weight over their service lifetime?? Guess…   🤣🤣

Whatever it is, you dislike worn out aeroplanes, I love them. So?

O.K. Then dear Ala13_ManOWar, if you can show the exterior of those factory fresh Corsairs,

then you are certainly able to show us factory fresh cockpits straight from the assembly line which present the same worn surfaces,

damage, scratches as the corsair we are getting in DCS...

No I can't dear ac5 because those high quality color kodachrome pictures costed a kidney and half your liver back in the day so why would they take any color picture of that small unimportant detail in the first place? 😂

But apparently you haven't seen a real aircraft in a daily use, and they got scratches and stained all over very quickly, even at the factory. You know, in a war they don't pay attention to cleaning the planes before sending them to the front line 🤣 . Not to mention, usually primer is the only thing used in the interiors so a relatively thin coat of primer between you and the bare metal, and that lasts really short time until it gets scratched and stained all over (primer is not even a paint and it's usually a rough finish which gets smudged easily).

Anyhow, my point being, you might "like" it, or you might "dislike" it, and I'm all about respect for others opinions and likings. But you both can't pretend the "factory pristine condition" is any sustainable argument for your own likings when that doesn't match real life at all the moment you know any real life aeroplane and I've known a few to know even private modern aeroplanes get dirt the moment you take them home. Not to mention you dismiss the "museum relic" thing as it wouldn't be a reality, and you don't know the half of it, those museum relics are actually pretty clean since they are, you know, museum relics and are kept clean and unused any more… 🙄

For the exterior I'm sure that's true, but I would have to assume the USN would do some maintenance of the cockpits at least, and not let the paint chips falling off the rusty metal moving components float around as FOD.

Sorry mate, "maintenance in the cockpits and aeroplanes are an oxymoron. They don't even clean the airliners you fly in, wait for the us navy to clean your cockpit…  :megalol:

Bear in mind it's usually and most of the time ground crews who start the engines for you (watch the Corsair period training films, they say it), and that's after the pre-flight check and all which means filthy hands, clothes and boots. You can expect oil, grease, gas and all kind of filth from the aeroplane itself staining the cockpit (they aren't your house maids, you know, they don't try to keep it clean and all). Plus, that means a lot of people pass through the cockpit even before flying just for checks and all and the more people the more opportunities for the plane to get filth. It's as simple as that.

I know there are community members that make all kinds of cockpit li eries out there, anybody planning on a 'clean'/'new' cockpit for the F4U?

I personally really don't like the 'museum relic' aesthetic in an airplane that spent 3 years in the war, and each individual aircraft probably spending far less than that in front line service.

I can start on it myself, but I've never done half as good a job at it as many 'pits I've seen here over the years.

I completely agree. At some stage, that Corsair, (and thousands of others) left the

factory in a pristine condition, thus with a unworn cockpit.

I find also quite disappointing those ultra-worn cockpits for the sake of "realism"....

I have looked into all the .dds textures of all 4 cockpits, but  even being a retired advertising photograph

myself, quite capable with Photoshop, I can't deduce where to retouch it.

I did such a job on the F-18 which took me a couple of days, but with the Corsair I'm lost...

    https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3302617/

And BTW, I did not notice any difference between the 4 Cockpits provided....

Yeah, then again I completely disagree with you whatsoever. Aeroplanes are usually the filthier thing you've known and even unreleased aeroplanes at factory still in tests are usually worn out just with some engine runs up and a couple of test flights, so they reach front line not even close to that "factory pristine" you claim to be. Actually, if something, DCS F4U-1D Corsair's skins are if something waaayyy too clean.

For the record, these are your "factory fresh" examples, brand new yet already filthy even without having seen a single day of front line service,

That's interesting. Is it anything that could be shared?

  8. Yep, I don't receive any spam from ED or ED related stuff. At all, and I used to have a hotmail account time ago which is horrible getting spam, but still not ED or DCS related.

Anyhow, try to change your emails here at the forums and ED account (they're 2 different ones) for a better and safer email provider of your liking, they're usually way better with the spam.

To change the camera: hold right shift+ right control and num pads (2 down, 8 up, 4 left, 6 right), 5 is for recenter. To save that view, press right alt+0 on numpad.

For zoom in press right shift+right contol and - (to zoom out) or * to zoom in.

This was the procedure I was mentioning. So long since last time I used it, didn't recall. Thanks mate 👍

The Corsair is undergoing thorough tests, and we plan to deliver this module in the next update. We look forward to your feedback.

    Not bad!! 😁

Thanks for the heads up Bignewy!!

Even in the P-51 they were instructed to not slam the throttle, even though the affect was not a pronounced, the yaw and role tendency is still extreme and dangerous. IIRC there were a few deadly accidents in P-51s caused by slamming the throttle on an aborted go-around. Panic is the last thing you need in the cockpit.

    Maybe kind of this one?

Original video audio was ripped off due to some profanity said by the person recording, but I believe there was a throttle slamming after the bounce and that was the source of the accident in the end.

Because it is how I express myself best and nowadays with all the technological advances, it takes little time to translate a web text.

I know mate, language barrier is a bummer, but it takes little in both directions, takes little for the many to translate your posts, and takes little for you to translate them for the many. And in any case, it's just polite to do as Romans do when you're in Rome, you know 😉 .

Whatever it is, has there been any other recent info? I'm eager for the Corsair like I didn't remember any other recent module. Last ED's newsletter talked about Marianas WWII map being release candidate "in time for your Corsairs"… Makes sense they release at about the same time!!

Flanker, this is the English forum section mate. Why you keep speaking Spanish? Everybody has the right to read and understand you, no matter you know we do speak Spanish, your messages aren't private to us but with everyone in here. And your concern about Marianas WWII map and ED's Japanese assets pack is shared with many others, so many people might be interested in reading you in English.

Si, se suponía que faltaba el visto bueno de ED al modelo de vuelo para que se pudiera poner a la venta...., veremos ahora si esperan al mapa de la Marianas para ponerlo a la venta.

Well, I hope they release both of them at about the same time now, but that's only really up the them, so I just hope 😂 .

Yeah they don't have time to babysit a Discord Server.

Exactly this. I's rather prefer they spend their valuable time in developing the modules than catering for a discord server, to be honest. I don't see the point in having one here

  16. Mates, it's not there yet but still it's great news!! I know it's been a while but remember some third parties had to quit in the past with "easier" modules to model, and one of them with a WWII prop fighter in the works. To model properly a high performance piston engined propeller plane is no easy task, at all, and specially if you have no previous experience about it and if they finally make it to the end (which I hope is close enough now) it'll  be an amazing accomplishment for an small team to achieve. On top of that, a model from a so well known aircraft we all await for and know about, so the slightest slip in the model will be noticed right away. If they finally make it there'll be nothing left but praising them for their achievement after all the bumps in the road they've dodged.

And yes, I await either for their promised MiG-21 v2.0 after the Corsair (and the Crusader, of course), but let's them show us all first their job with this one before judging what they can or can't give us.

I await eagerly this module to experience the WWII carrier ops and this amazing bird we all have craved for so long. Don't be mean now they're so close to an end to that journey that I'm sure they've suffered to get to this point now. I can only support them and hope for the better (and for the revamped MiG-21, any versions!! 😂 ).
