  1. You should check Ka50's Pilot Manual, section 8-18 (page 354) But, most probably you were looking for this:
  2. Thanks for reply. Obviously you haven't found time to watch the track :D In previous post, I was listing commands he doesn't "listen" any more. I issue order "Engage my target" while target is locked on Shkval. It worked before just fine and it is by book, I think. Am I only one with the issue?
  3. Lulac, so it's true :( OK, then :) For the record, I've found that NATO issued 5000 complaints about breaching no-fly zone. They just have orders not to engage if choppers haven't been in combat flight but to ground it or force to leave zone. I was wrong again. Sorry that I brought it up.
  4. In most campaign missions (Georgian Oil) Wingman won't attack when I use: "Engage my target" command. Sending him to attack data-linked target group results in no engagement of enemy at all. Just like he doesn't recognize certain enemy groups. He flew to point and get shot. He tries to engage defensive, so he registers bullets and missiles. "Engage bandits" and "Engage air-defences" doesn't work too. At one occasion while Wingman 2 refused to engage, Wingman 3 did his job. I attached Quick mission .trk where I tried to issue Wingman 2 order "Engage my target" few times. Any ideas? wingwontattack.zip
  5. I'm sorry, I couldn't find citation from pilots in links you gave me. Would you help me and point me in?
  6. GGTharos, I read the story from both sources. Helicopters were not spotted by AWACS but by friendly ground troops. F-15 was coordinated to site in order to find choppers. F-15 spotted helicopters with FLIR first at the time when F-15 flight was 10-15 miles from friendly team (other pilot says they have had radar contact first). Pilots mention they had been 5-10 miles away when they identified choppers as Mi-24. F-15 sustained lock on chopper while it was on the ground bcs of rotating blades. In pilots words: "As soon as the helicopters picked up and started moving, we were getting hits off them on the radar. The radar would stay locked on them when they were on the ground because the moving rotor blades were picked up." There is no mention at which distance they had made radar lock. I couldn't find info about 50nm. Please, point me. Choppers were flying over 185km/h. It was night and there is no mention of choppers altitude I presume all of this happened in desert (not much obstacles) Brit_Radar_Dude, I have no doubts that chopper or any other aircraft can be caught by radar. But, you need to search specifically for choppers on given coordinates to find it. Do random searches or AWACS regular scanning routine would be able to detect it easily? You have to account for weather, distance and ground configuration (at least) but also good chopper piloting could help masking. Sorry, no documents but one from 1985 which could easily be rejected due it's date. To be sincere, I didn't know that blades with relatively small area and high RPM could make such a difference for radar detection. I don't want to be smart-ass about this. All I wanna say is Ka50 should stay invisible for AWACS radar under certain circumstances (low speed, low altitude, distance). The same should be true for fighter's radar and the distance could be biggest factor (10-15 miles) Cheers
  7. I'd like to see proof. Thanks.
  8. Oh, common... If you are looking for needle in hay it would be much easier to find it if someone point where it might be. F15 must be looking for 21's on highways after first time trick. BTW. 21's fly much faster then Ka50 and ground vehicles. winz, elaborate please. Rotating blades scatter radar waves more efficiently then if it were full disc. For Doppler effect, area is most concerning factor. If chopper is hovering, it has exposed area of (in best case) of rotor radius multiplied by Square Pi. What about metal roofs or any other high metal area objects? They would have good reflection too. It's common practice for radar to filter out moving objects with speeds below 90km/h to avoid overwhelming of radar operator with false alarms. Not to mention sending pilots to intercept non-existing targets. Also, there are vehicles with much bigger area than a car. NHF
  9. Wouldn't the same be true for ground vehicles? Doppler effects works same for every object. Regardless flying one or grounded one. My question was how radar will distinguish moving ground vehicle from low flying chopper in speeds below 90km/h? In RL very few Mi-8 and Gazzeles flights were detected by NATO AWACS in no-fly zones in Bosnia. And at the end, game should be more fun (less frustration) if choppers become undetectable in certain conditions (low and relatively slow flight). My 2 cents...
  10. You should install 1.0. afterward 1.0.2. No need for 1.0.1.
  11. Thanks argento. I briefly tried your version and it works. GJ! I've tried some mods myself: Migo Shkval Mod - it seems to me that it didn't work Remove Cloud Shadow - works Hi-Res Vehicle Skins - works Default Head Movement Off - works Russian_Pilot_Flora_1998_Camouflage - works Realistic Moon Mod for DCS Black Shark V1.0 - works Ocean Small Waves For DCS Ver.2 - works Hi-Res Clouds V1.20 - works
  12. Even if above quotation is a true, how would AWACS distinguish Ka50 from ground vehicles if it flies below 90km/h? What about Ka50 in hovering mode? Is it visible through AWACS?
  13. You can save profile in same screen where you're setting keyboard/joystick (Options - Controls, upper right corner). After reinstall you can load it.
  14. Thanks for response guys :) Argento, for me old 1.0.1 version works fine - cockpit mouse view and TrackIR fix. Thanks, Dragon. I installed SIMMOD LoReload Terrain Mod through ModMan and it works. Do you recommend to remove it?
  15. This is list of mods I've used with 1.0.1c w/o problems. Now, I would like to know are any of these obsolete with 1.0.2 patch. I mean, maybe, ED implemented some of funcionality from these mods and/or added new ones. I'm especially concerned about those labeled as FUNCIONALITY IMPROVEMENTS. Some of these modify files in \weapons folder, so they wouldn't pass integrity check on online servers? If someone tried any of these, please post so all of us could know that these work as supposed to and/or do not break any newly implemented features. If you have info about other (non)working mods, please post. Thanks ;)
  16. Good job! [JOKE] As bug to bug speaking... Would it be good idea to add insignia for fictional "countries"? E.g. (ladybirds, beer lovers, flying pigs etc.) Then we could have fights like "Beer lovers" against "Soda lovers" or "Bears" Vs "Rabbits" or... [\JOKE]
  17. You can press Pause/Break or Escape on keyboard to pause game until you deal with VPU Recovery. At least, plane won't crash.
  18. Nice setup. Congrats on it :) You could consider moving monitors up, in level with eyes.
  19. You could try: 1. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System->Device Manager 2. At the bottom of the list is item 'Universal Serial Bus controllers', open it 3. There would be few 'USB Root Hub' entries (If you open any of them, you are going to find tabs 'Power' and 'Power management'. On 'Power' tab you could find if your USB port is overloaded and what devices are attached to it. On 'Power management' you could disable option for computer turning off that USB port). 4. Find proper 'USB Root Hub' entry for TrackIR and uncheck 'Allow computer to turn off...' at 'Power management' tab 5. Check 'Power' tab for overloading This could work if Win7 was responsible for TrackIR loosing power from USB port.
  20. I have tried it. I'll say my opinion about it as SP mission. Lack of info at the very beginning. I'd like to see where supposed threat zones are, predicted flight route etc. Also, I'm not interested in Georgian geography so it would be good idea to mark some zones of interest on map before mission starts. I've got shot down twice on approach so I cannot tell more about mission :D All of these problems are solvable if you open mission in editor and see enemy position. But it's kind of cheat for me. So, please add more info, chart with marked predicted enemy position, known enemy position etc (not necessary correct and accurate). There must be some info on which someone judged to send pilot in action (with no ground support), make flight route etc. Present it to pilot. Salute!
  21. In my replay... In my replay of this track (after few successful attacks on armor) pilot attacked hill. Especially one particular part of slope with some trees on it. Tree didn't fall so pilot decided to ram into slope. After "landing" he continued to fight in his head, changing parameters on chopper, checking his 3 and 9, zooming in and out... Few minutes of imaginary fight and title "MISSION SUCCESS" showed up. Interesting. I felt just like if I had watched movie.
  22. Well, you had said "no politics" but introduced it right now. It's not enough to mark trial as "political trial" just because it was conducted during Stalin period. You need more proof. Also about Stalin. You can learn about him from many sources. I don't believe he was good man either but he was leader for 30 years. Definitely, he had supporters. Also, Russia (together with her leaders) needed to look bad bcs of making communists threat bigger and uglier. That's also political. Now, about Unit 731. Try to find more info, more sources, study it and make conclusion based on your (independent) research. Official version said that these experiments were conducted. It's enough for me regard fact that trial has been done during Stalin leadership.
  23. ...who become white after catapulting -
  24. On the quick glance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khabarovsk_War_Crime_Trials Place and the names.
  25. I've found some inconsistencies in manual-tryout of sim myself... but... this... too much info... go fly and have some fun :) NHF
