  1. haha, true the airspace really is busy! Think I lost one Huey that crashed very close to the ocean (thought I made a screenshot of that one too, but I did not) Really odd that they can crash and burn while being invulnerable, unless I saw something else on fire and mistook it for a crashed Huey!
  2. I finished the campaign today, and everything I wrote above still stands: This campaign is fantatstic! The missions even got better, and the characters reflect a lot more about what they are going through than in most other campaigns. I hope to see more Huey campaigns in the future! The mission difficulty is not linear, with a mix of easier and harder missions, which I suppose adds to the realism. Additionally, the terms 'hard' and 'easy' are subjectiv Also, great support! Whenever there was a problem, a response or the fix was available shortly after (sometimes just hours later, which is mind-blowing).
  3. Thanks a lot! I believe the link is still for Mission 10, but I found this folder https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UYOXNYHdhOaC59nFvaxJ0__T01gLKKQN a, and the updated Mission 15 worked flawlessly now! I made sure to stay on the planned route, and I also had Phantoms this time. The rest was pretty straightforward and very rewarding. There were still some catastrophic takeoffs and other mishaps, but not enough to compromise the mission. Most importantly, the two Cobras survived and fought very effectively
  4. Not sure if it's a skill issue, but I can't seem to be able to destroy the enemy troops, and the AA takes out most of my flight in the process. Also, the Cobras are very ineffective, and some of the Hueys already eat it during takeoff. The attached track does not represent the longest battle I've survived, but my Huey was shot pretty bad already, and after the gunners ran out of ammo and my rockets were depleted, I took an AA round to the face. I watched a playthrough on YouTube, and there seems to be a trigger shortly after the AA starts shooting where the pilot says something like "They must have run out of ammo," and the battle is over pretty quickly, but this never happened in my five runs. Any ideas what I could be missing? Do I need to kill a certain unit for the "out of ammo" event to happen? last_show_mission_15_problem.trk
  5. Ah, I think I saw that before when taking off while artillery was hitting left and right at the beginning of one mission (or at least part 3 or something). Never seen that done before in DCS, but it was quite cinematic. Thanks for the book tip; I've put it on my 'to-read' list. It sounds very interesting! I could never wrap my head around how it must have been to fly these helicopters in real active warzones, landing in super small clearings, basically chopping down branches, also in bad weather, all while being shot at... Currently, I'm still going through 'Stick and Rudder' to gain an overall improved understanding of flight in general.
  6. @SorelRoRetried it with your fix for the mission and was able to finish it in one sitting! Excellent job Guess removing the nasty APCs so close to the LC did the trick? I was still being shot at, so there is still a good challenge. For example yesterday an AA round sniped me straight out of the cockpit. Also the greatest challenge for me in this mission is the heavy ship, takes me like 2000 ft close to the ground until i have enough speed to climb
  7. I'm a bit stuck at the hot LZ in mission 11. So I wanted to pick up the wounded guys but as soon as I'm loaded up the russian tanks will fire some sort of missile or rocket at my Huey destroying it instantly. Is it about timing? I don't believe that flaring will do much. Did the tanks have the ability back when you playtested this mission?
  8. Great to hear that some critical thinking is required to understand that underlying emotions of the storyline From a technical standpoint the scripting worked very well in this mission, all triggers where executed on first try and the AI worked very well after I gave the orders for the attack. Whish I had half that much air support in other missions, I think I took out that many units a few missions ago by myself when my whole flight just chickend out and flew home when we had first enemy contact
  9. upvoting for this! Please bring us this very helpful feature. It's maybe fairly easy to implement since the preset label could just be part of the saved preset array?
  10. Played the FAC mission today, really great fun and while most likely being the easiest mission yet it's very satisfying. How could it not be when the map looks like this I have an ethical question about the ending:
  11. can confirm again today that after finishing a misison no new entry for the next mission is created in `logbook.lua. If I create the array entry manually the campaign overview looks like it should and I can progress within hitting "skip".
  12. Ah I think something important happened: So I just finished "Fast Boats in the night" a couple of minutes ago (was fun, although the AI slicks bugged out and stayed home, but it was manageable, since the downed helo at the end was scripted, smart move btw. ) I'm facing the same issue: I had the RTB message, saw the 100 score while flying but after ending the mission no campaign progression. So it's not just the "Resuce the Handy Wind" mission alone, but all mission that came after. I know nothing about scripting campaigns but maybe the problem even comes from "The hidden FARP"? (just a wild guess since all missions after that seem to suffer from this problem). Attached my latest logbook.luafile and there is no entry for "Fast Boats in the night"
  13. Thanks for investigating this problem! Here is my campaign result overview and I've also attached my complete logbook.lua since I think it's safe to share this online as far as I could tell. I found the entry for the problematic mission, but it might only be in there because I skipped it yesterday. About controlling the UH-1: My hovering above the Zodiac could be considered highly unsafe, how they rescued anyone with me drifting off 30 feet and more at times is beyond me logbook.lua
  14. Thanks for the fast response as always Skipping works! This is the result from the replay (which as usual turned out to be pretty broken, at least the last third of it) while RTB ) The "results" row value changed from 50 to 100 after the order to fly back to the airport, but the score stayed 0, not sure what the difference is though
  15. I think I have the same problem: Dialog and onscreen instructions tell me to return to the airport with the wounded sailors, but after landing at the same spot we took off, nothing happens. I end the misison and I cant progress.
  16. You're very welcome! I will keep you posted on what I think about the missions I have yet to finish. I'm taking my sweet time playing through this campaign, never finishing more than one mission per session in the evening. However, I will certainly find more time to enjoy it in the upcoming holidays.
  17. I have to admit that I wasn't sure what to expect from this campaign at first. I couldn't find many reviews online, and the first mission started with slinging loads, which I find frustrating—probably because I manage to crash the loads more often than successfully delivering them. Additionally, there was an unlucky bug in mission 2 with the explosion at the FARP . However, the creator is not really to blame; it was just unlucky timing (the update that caused the problem came from DCS), and he promptly provided the fixed mission to download. But the missions that followed turned out to be really fun! Especially mission 6 ("The hidden FARP") which I just finished a couple of minutes ago, motivated me to recommend this campaign. I don't want to spoil anything, but like most missions, it's well-balanced with a good mixture of requiring some skill without being unfair. The voiceovers in this campaign sound highly professional. I once downloaded a different campaign, priced similarly, where the voices sounded like 15-year-old Germans attempting to deliver lines with a forced imitation of 40-year-old American pilots. It completely killed the immersion. In contrast, this campaign does an excellent job with its voice work Certainly, there are some bugs here and there, but most of them are DCS-related. For example, when I commanded the flight to attack ground targets, they just returned home on the first try. I'm also not a huge fan of the missions being split into separate parts instead of being standalone missions because when you die, you have to replay all parts. However, it also raises the stakes somewhat because if you mess up, you'll have to start over again. But if you make it back and finish the mission in a shot-up Huey, you'll feel ever so proud, even though you'll have to wipe the sweat off your stick now So, in short: If you don't own this campaign yet, give it a try and be prepared to relearn the Huey if, like me, you haven't flown it in a while. Your skills will be tested! This campaign assumes you already know the aircraft, as there is no tutorial for basic handling. Also, do yourself a favor and navigate using the F10 mission map instead of relying solely on the documents. In some cases, you can also use the radio (VOR or VHF-FM) for navigation. Thanks a lot to @SorelRo for this great campaign and all the hard work that went into it! For me personally, this module is up there with "Paradise Lost" and "Argo." He is also very quick to respond if you run into any trouble or if you find any bugs.
  18. This was it, thanks! and sorry @SorelRo for posting this in your sub forum, was totally my own fault! I had forgotten that the PTT modifier is necessary sometimes.
  19. In all missions I've flown until now (4) I was unable to open the radio menu while airborne. It works however as soon as the chopper touches the ground. This was very cumbersome in mission 1 when i had to chose a load for slinging. The menu also works in flight with any othter aircraft I've tested and I remember it working in the UH-1 in other campaigns. Mabye a regression in DCS?
  20. There was no text message or other indication that I was all clear to quit the mission after taking out all enemy troops. The little bird I was following just keeps flying in circles or hovers over the trees when I came close. Flew back and forth between FARP and the LZ a couple of times untiil i almost ran out of fuel. Only after watching the YouTube walkthrough i knew that the mission was over. Please make the ending more obvious, thank you
  21. Sort of resolved: Was able to set "per application video settings" resolution settings for the new executable within the headset UI, but not within the Windows SteamVR Settings. Also have to manually select "DCS World" when doing adjustments, but this could all be a SteamVR UI bug. Little performance report: While testing with my global 150% resolution multiplier combined with per application 130% resolution multiplier (resulting in ~195% total) I'm now seeing a lot more 60 FPS again on mostly high settings. Maybe even better than before 2.8. So those frametimes recuced by some milliseconds really make a big difference in all my tested scenarios (F14 Dogfight, Multiplayer guns arena, AH64D on Marianas (at least stable 40 fps on this heavy scenario)) Hardware: 5800X (8C), 3090
  22. Hello everyone, I tried the new MT version today and saw a massive reduction in VR frametime (3-4 ms). But after a short while, I noticed that my "custom Resolution multiplier" (from the "Per Application Video Settings" page) wasn't applied and therefore the render resolution was much lower. When trying to fix it in the Steam VR settings I only get an empty settings page. (see Screenshot 1). Screenshot 2 displays the settings when running the default version "bin/DCS.exe". I also tried manually selecting another application in the settings window. There is an entry for "DCS World" (strangely enough it's only "DCS" when running the default version), but no settings are applied. I might go ahead and change the global Steam VR settings for my DCS needs, but the "Per Application Video Settings" are very convenient. I also tried playing around with the Steam/config/steamvr.vrsettings file, but even deleting all DCS related settings did not help. I have the feeling that SteamVR is confused because the executables have the same name but different paths. Maybe not even something ED can fix, but was wondering if I'm alone with that problem. I'm thankful for any advice!
  23. thanks for clarifying! haha, yea who knows Just had a good laugh at Chalk 2 redlining at the beginning of Mission 9. Saw them sky-rocketing and was like "what the...", because I was struggling so much to gain altitude in the gunship. The fact that they confessed what they just did shortly after on the radio was one of the most immersive experiences I had in DCS so far, I enjoy this a lot! Thanks again and declare the above confusion resolved
